I think regular football at Birmingham did more for him than a few sub appearances for us in a season where the team were under big pressure what with is bring in a title challenge.

agree to disagree, seeing him on the bench ready to come on i would have been excited by what i have seen him capable of doing, seeing moses or aspas coming on to change things and my first thought was ffs.

But you're judging him on these couple of games... After he spent 3 months at Birmingham. Without that loan he may not have been ready this season.

Long term that loan will do him better than 1 or 2 10 minute cameos for us.

Well he said better for Ibe, not better for us. Obviously he'd have done better than Moses/Aspas but doesn't really mean much for him. He'd play more often at Birmingham and that's better than rotting on the bench here. It's clear that his end product needs some work and a year ago I don't think he'd have been ready.

Sterlings end product needs work, so does coutinho. i have seen Ibe play quite a few times in reserves and i am seeing the same player, which is why i think he was ready last season, and being sat on the bench for a team that was challenging for the prem title to come on and maybe change things and get valuable points wouldn't have done much for Ibe, but playing regular for a team that survived getting related in the championship would?

no i am not, have seen him play quite a lot of times.

I agree. Loans should be for players looking to break into our first team, either kids or elder players. They either prove their worth or they are re-loaned (game time is very important, because playing under real pressure is vital to the footballing learning curve) or sold. Think Aspas might be one of the latter.

Love that, Brendan saying Peterson gets to go on US tour as a reward for work and performances. Really positive attitude towards our youngsters continues.

In what games are you suggesting Ibe might have come in and made the difference?

We won 10 on the trot.. Didn't need him and the one game that lost it, Chelsea, I highly doubt he'd have made a difference.

When he play for Brum he was playing during our best run of the season. He was t going to get picked then, do a loan was for the best.

And yes, regular games in a high pressure situation like a relegation battle is more valuable to him that 1 or 2 cameos for us.

Didnt see the whole game, but turned it on in time to see the two goals.

Good to see Ibe playing so well, really happy that Suso has got himself a goal. Both are players who can have an impact and will show to have benefitted from their loans last year.

I'd prefer Ibe to get one more season on loan first, he was more effective for Birmingham in the games he started, seems like he improves as the game goes on and gets a read on things. I think a full season of first team football at Championship level would benefit him more in the long run. Especially if we have a bench with 2 or 3 attacking players like Lambert/Remy/Coutinho or Sturridge/Marko/Lallana on it. Can't see him coming on ahead of those guys at the moment unless we're already comfortable.

Emre Can...

How is his name pronnounced? Commentators are saying it as "shan" rather than "can"

Personally I agree, only think we should be looking to give him to the likes of West Brom. Premier League, not the absolute favourites for the drop, and likely to be able to use him at the top level.

Ibe can't finish.... He'll get at best lower league cup game or two here so yes simply must go on loan

Some pointless updates from training <ok>

Markovic, still without an official number, was wearing number 50, currently assigned to Brannagan (not on the tour)

Ward, usually 52, was in 47 which is Wisdom's number

Alberto's 6 was worn by Adam Phillips (usually 45)

Peterson wore 19 instead of 54

Come on Coutinho and Borini. Its not exactly difficult!

Jones looks seriously pissed off at having to be photographed in a pink shirt!

What's that weird gesture salute thingy Lucas and Allen are doing with their right hands? Or have they got stuck to the grass on some stray chewing gum.

Sign language for "I can't believe we're being sold!"
