With Hiliarious and Schwarzer now released, we have two of the world's best goalies looking for a spot in our 1st eleven. How on earth do manage this one?
This is what we call a first world problem. Its a good position to be in, where we have two of the best keepers in football vying for one spot. Like so many others on here......I have to say we have to think of the future and go with Courtois. He is just as good, if not better, he is younger and could fill our keeper role for the next 10-15 years possibly. Cech I look at with my romantic specs on. He was our keeper in our double title winning spree of 05 with our record points tally and only 15 goals conceded and 06, plus 2010 with our record goals scored. Plus he saved two pens in the CL final shootout which made us Champions of Europe at last! So I cannot state enough the love I have for the guy, but really it boils down to this, Courtois could quite easily be the best keeper on the planet in the next couple of years and he is ours.....if we done get him back here and give him games, we will lose him....its that simple. And that would be a crying shame. Sell Cech abroad and let him hold a place in our hearts and the clubs history....but Courtois HAS to be the next chapter......there is no other option
I think we are very lucky to have the talent of Courtois starting a hopefully, brilliant career, but Cech is far from finished. I wonder if Cech will be guaranteed, 1st call in , say, the plastic cup and FA cup and be on the bench for the Prem and CL games!
Didn't Schwarzer just sign a contract extension? As for how they manage it I have no idea but there isn't an easy decision here and I'm happy it isn't me making the call.
On the BBC website relating to "Jose Mourhino's spending is now done!" they list outward transfers and those released from contract! Among those released from contract is Schwarer!
Some confusion but I believe Schwartzer did sign a 1 year extension. Can see Cech moving sometime soon if thats the case.
Believe me-Schwarzer was on the list earlier, but I've just been back to the BBC football site where the article re Jose is still up and Schwarzer's name is no longer on it. Sorry guys!
