    Dear ´nots´,

Am considering a new-look CPL for the coming season, where I combine both the old CPL and the old Line-Up prediction threads into one. There will naturally have to be a little reorganising, particularly on the Line-Up side, so that it doesn´t become too complicated.

The basic set-up will probably end up looking a bit like this:

Predictions for - HT score, FT score, 1st City scorer, City´s overall match possession, Starting eleven, Bench, and City shots on target.

I´ll admit that it´s mostly for my own benefit that I´m pondering the change, but with so many games to come this year, with not always many days between them, it seems to make sense. I know there are several inveterate CPL´ers as well as several inveterate Line-Up´ers, but last year there were also several who predicted both.

I certainly don´t want to lose any on either side because of making a change, in fact I´m hoping I might encourage more to join, that´s why I´m testing the water with his poll before diving in feet first.

    Please feel free to comment

    Yours rbf

Naturally I´m quite prepared and willing to run them both again separately this year, if that is the majority vote. :)

I can see advantages to merging them. I often forget to do both and having just one will make things easier.

I agree with Kent, RBF, let's keep it simple, especially for you as the one doing all the work.

RBF, as someone who has run the CPL previously I know how much hard work it is, so please do what you want. You do it all for free and for that we are all very grateful.

However, I personally probably wouldn't predict very much if the CPL was to be run like this. It's just too much to have to think about and, for me, would take too long to bother with. Just my opinion. :)

I do understand Hucks, and that was my one fear, that it would more likely be the inveterate CPL´ers that might take exception to the idea. Have thought long and hard about it, and will try to make it seem as little like sacrilege as possible if I do go ahead with it. I hope you´ll have a rethink if it happens as I don´t want to lose anyone, especially long serving predictors like you.

I seemed to stop doing the CPL, not sure why as it was good fun (probably just because I was failing miserably!).

Don't think I've ever had a go at the prediction league, would like to, and if they're combined to ease your workload RBF, that's fine by me. <ok>

For what it's worth I think I would like to join this next season, and I'd be more likely to start, and continue, if it was a 'one stop shop'..

Happy if you combine them RBF - it's you doing all the grafting mate so whatever is good for you is good for me (as long as I win again lol !)

So as to try and make this as representative a poll as it can be, I would appreciate as many of last year´s predictors ( both CPL and Line-Up) as possible, casting a vote, or at least coming with a comment, even if it´s only to say you´re happy either way. It would help to give me more of an idea.

Naturally I respect both the YES vote and the NO vote, and although this proposal will definitely lessen the workload for me, as others have mentioned I thought it might also make life a bit easier for the rest of you too, only having one thread to find, one deadline to keep, and so on.

I do have a plan B, and a plan C actually if necessary, so don´t feel that this is the only option.

    Thank you, rbf

    Hi RBF
I have ever only played the CPL, never saw the appeal with the predictor's, so would this mean i'd have to play both? or is it just combined on one thread?
Either way it's your time your kind enough to give up so ultimately it's what helps you.

Hello chippy - As I have it in my head at the moment, you won´t be compelled to predict both the CPL parts and the LINE-UP parts, you can pick and choose, but they will hopefully all be on the same thread.

I only do the CPL and haven't bothered with the line-up predictions for the past couple of seasons, and I don't imagine that will change so as long as I have a way to just predict my scores in the CPL then I'm happy

That should be a clincher imo. those that do both will have a one stop shop and those that only do one can mix and match. I make that easier for everyone, not just you RBF! <ok>

Would you have 2 separate league tables, combine the 2 into 1 league table or even do both?, ie combine the 2 into 1 league table but also let us know how we are doing in the individual competitions

The plan is to have two separate league tables Jedi, as I think that probably is the fairest, I hope it will be self-explanatory when I put up the first thread.

I'd prefer two league tables because I occasionally get lucky with one, but never both! <laugh>

Combining the 2 but having 2 separate tables sounds a good idea to me as I would not have to keep looking for the individual competitions to take part in, they'd both be in the same place but also I'd know whether I was doing better at predicting the score or the Line-up. Also i have sometimes missed a week or 2 and lost points due to being a game or 2 behind the leaders for which I would like to see a way whereby at the end of the season everybody finishes with the same number of games in the league tables, eg. divide score by games played x games missed + current score. So if someone has 4500 points after 45 games in a 46 game season, divide 4500 by 45 games = 100 points (average) x 1 game missed = 100 points + 4500 (current score) = 4600 total score after 46 games.

However there should also be a minimum number of games to be played in order for you to qualify for an average score to prevent people just playing a handful of games to get an average score, e.g. 25-30
