Lincolnshire has some great breweries, Oldershaw, Batemans, Tom Wood and do we ever see any of those at Sincil Bank? NOT EVEN IN THE CLUB BAR!!! My favourite Batemans is Combined Harvest. Lovely mellow golden beer.

They should get Ringwood - Old thumper in at St Mary's. Show the yoof what a real beer is like. lol. My fav is Boon Doggle though.

On the Carling thing. I'm not really a massive lager connoisseur but I find Carling quite palatable if served nice and chilled. It has that 'flowery' aromatic taste similar to Kronenbourg. Agree with the Carlsberg comments. It is like fizzy water.

I have a flowerpots every Sunday after cricket at the Wheatsheaf at Shedfield it's a great pint :-)

You will find me and Tigger propping up the proverbial in the Wheatsheaf fairly often.. The flowerpots other pub.. great beer, good conversation..

The problem with football grounds serving good ale is that it has to be 'looked after' and served by people who know how to look after it! I guess that is at best unlikely. Can you imagine trying to go back to return a pint at half time because it's not right...

So true. Also could you imagine what they would charge for a pint of Old Thumper considering the current policy of charging a premium price for bubbly gnat's pee.
Some of the beers mentioned previously are available bottled which remains the best hope of beer happiness at St Marys.

ImpsSaint is right, Boon Doggle is glorious. Get a sober friend to order it for you after the 4th pint as by then you really do sound like Bill & Ben.

There is a way round the need for skilled cellarman, you use 'bright beer' this would not need settling or venting just tap and serve. It downsides are it only lasts a short time but for use for a few hours on a Saturday it will be fine.

Bright beer is racked off pre sedimented beer so the yeast which causes secondary fermentation to the beer is not present , the maintenance of the secondary fermentation process is where the skill is needed.

Could just sell it bottled.

I think Saints should be the first club to break into the Class A concourse franchise. Well, ok, Class A is probably a leap, but maybe at least some uppers & downers, depending on how the game is going.

With our new dutch contingent, I'm sure we can also open a pipeline (ha ha ha) into Amsterdam for a variety of herbal cakes & coffees.

WE WANT DRUGS!

(which, statistically, are of less harm than alcohol)

I always smell weed on the walk through the tunnels after match, is that you?!

Ring wood is owned by one of the bigger guys now. Marstons I think.

49er

That's tragic:( Once at the Hogshead, in Westbourne I got mullered on Old thumper years ago. The same thing happened to Gales, taken over by a bigger brewery who have no idea about tradition.

Tradition may soon make way for a differing definition in the OED in a few years if we carry on destroying it.

I want Hendrick's and tonic. And they'd better stock some cucumbers for garnish.

I remember my friends and I getting into a bit of trouble in a village inn once when we were getting drunk 'sampling' their guest beer; 'what the fox hat'. happy days

There are two beer festivals local to me in September. I can't bloody wait.

I like those funny adverts with the Fox in. He's a bit odd.

:) The beer I most often buy for the fridge is Old Golden Hen. I tend to prefer the golden / blond beers these days.
