Hi all

For ages i have been jealous of Brighton for the great beer they serve at the Amex.

We have to suffer with saints ale from molston coors which is poor at best.

In Hampshire we are blessed with many fantastic local breweries such as flowerpots, vibrant forest, bowman, to name just a few, why can't we follow Brighton's lead and utilise our local breweries to bring great ale to st Mary's. I have written to the club on previous occasions and received no response.

I have tweeted them this morning and had no response so far but would appreciate those twitter users amongst you who share my love of good beer as well as good football to retweet my tweet to show the club their is demand for good local beer at the ground.

I can't drink going to home games because of the long drive home, however you get my vote. Use a local brew with some decent flavour. On occasions when I have eaten first, I have enjoyed a Doombah at the old farmhouse.
 
I don't tend to drink at home games much (tend to pop to a local pub with mum instead) but I share your concern so I've retweeted. You've got me wanting a Bowman Swift One now!
 
Flowerpots is one of the best ales I have ever had. After a recommendation from a friend I had to go to this particular pub after taking a then female friend there after a day spent at Kew Gardens. Since this was a few years ago, can someone remind me of the little hamlet where this is produced??

Pots ale is linked to the Flowerpots pub in Cheriton, a couple of miles East from Winchester on the A272. The brewery used to be right by the pub but I'm not sure if it is anymore. Well worth a visit :)

Yeah, still is <ok>

If you want to go a pub nearer Bishops Waltham head to the Hampshire Bowman. Serve Bowman ales, I think they were just beat flower pots.

I'd like to think Southampton FC (the club) would be a bit more professional than to have an account on a forum with a signature calling for another club to be liquidated.

Dark star hophead is a wonderful beer and the serve it from a single stand see photo below

I have a flowerpots every Sunday after cricket at the Wheatsheaf at Shedfield it's a great pint :-)

Thanks, wasn't sure. Often cycle past the Bowman and of course go for the odd drink too.
Wouldn't like to say which is best. I find it I try one I'll think that's better and will then have to go try the other... It's a terrible burden :)

Haha, I'm the same. Too many good ales in this area and lovely pubs.

Dark Star is an excellent brewery, I find most of what they touch turns to gold. And Harvey' s best is a lovely pint. We get a fair bit of both in Twells, as Lewes is down the road, and Brighton not much further. Don't know the really good breweries in Soton area, as I don't get down there much.

That's because we're a bunch of hipsters here in Brighton.

Harvey's is from Lewes, and Darkstar from Ansty, both local breweries but by no means Brighton breweries. I was a big fan of Darkstar until they stopped brewing Spiced Vice, which was their best beer in my opinion. Now I'd rather have a Badger ale of some sort.

I'm not that bothered about the half time beer. There's hardly time to knock back a bottle of lager, let alone enjoy a pint of ale. I used to be all about leaving 5 min before half time to get a few beers in, but it was voted as the most annoying thing to do at a football match (on this forum), so now I hardly bother.
