My fingers are badly burnt, I had the first 2 winners at Newmarket, yet I had so much on Midday that I've still done my bollocks on the day. I'm going through the Doncaster card trying to find a winner or 2 to recoup my losses

That's the thing with racing, anything can happen. I should be wary about AOB swell his horses form is a joke, they run terrible then they bolt up, it happens all the time. St Nicholas Abbey at Chester wound me up the most, the horse finished 3rd in a listed race, then stormed home like a top class G1 performer at Chester.
I wouldn't say MFM ran too badly in the Oaks.But im not a big fan of AOB either,he is a bit of a twisting so and so.To put it politely
Oddog....Possibly, but the winner was mighty impressive, she didn't just win she destroyed them, so I'm not going to make the had Midday been at her best excuse, because Misty For Me may just be better than Midday, we should see them clash again later in the season, so we should get a better idea
Don’t anyone be foolish and write Midday off, people. She’s performed at the ‘top table’ now for 3 seasons and has shown the fortitude and ability to win 5 Group 1’s during this time (none of these wins incidentally were before the end of July so her record indicates that she peaks during the second half of the campaign).
When it comes to the Nassau Stakes, Yorkshire Oaks, Prix Vermaille and Breeders Cup I will most definitely want to side with Sir Henry’s champion. Midday will be back!

I was gutted when i missed the Evens, and even more so when Snow Fairy came out. But i must say that i am mightily relieved that my money stayed in my pocket against my wishes. I'd have taken a right hiding because i sure as hell didn't see that one coming!
Zenyatta, the folks that got Evens about Midday were probably on non-runner, no-bet markets so they would have had a massive Rule 4 with Snow Fairy defecting.
I did not see the Pretty Polly Stakes but the write up looks a lot like both of the Irish Guineas this year - O'Brien's horse made all. Will O'Brien let Misty For Me take her chance in the Irish Oaks?
I backed Misty For Me at Epsom and I did not think that she stayed. Since she bolted up because I did not stick with her, I suppose I will have to take a look at Seville in the Irish Derby as I think the course was his problem on June 4th when he never got in the race.

QM....Myself and WF had the bet midweek when Antepost rules applied, so there wouldn't of been a rule 4, not that it makes any difference now, unfortunately!

wonder if midday was in season?
it was very disapointing how she lost ground,i know she had no chance when the sprint was on,but she was only 3l of it and ended uo 6l in the end.a very tired performance and im now wondering if she is ever gonna recapture last seasons form.her gp2 win wasnt franked by the 2nd at ascot and she really looked like wiinning the coronation but st nic got her even though he didnt handle the track that well.now a 3yo filly as really done her.
she may of lost speed as she's matured and maybe 1m4f will bring the best out of her,but it didnt look good yesterday.

No such thing as a good thing unfortunately. So You Think and Midday over last few days have cost the punters a small, or even large, fortune. The winner MFM could prove very good over 10furlongs.
Great Pidulski.....I'm no expert on horses in season I must say, but I'm sure I've heard that it can bring out improvement in fillies, not 100% though. I'm sure Ron or someone else who is regularly in contact with horses can fill us in.

shergar, isnt it been in foal that brings improvment?irionically clowance who was behind midday lto seemed to of ran above form,i often see the season thing as a excuse when a filly runs below form,no expert though on it.midday though isnt in season as i dare say it would of been reported by now.
i just think midday isnt the same now,if she races in the nassua and prix vermille,i would favour the likes of MFM again and golden lilac/galikova in the french race.i would go yorkshire oaks with her.

St Nicholas Abbey got beat in a listed race at the Curragh first time out, but this was the same race in which Fame And Glory got beaten at odds of 2/5 the previous year. Both horses left that form way behind them on their next start in much better company. Aidan is hardly going to have SNA at the peak of fitness for an egg and spoon listed race when there are much better prizes to be won later on. Any punters who lumped on SNA first time up deserved to lose their money. It's common knowledge that Aidan O'Brien's horses come on a ton for a run, especially that early in the season. I find it laughable that the Coolmore team were so afraid of a horse like Harris Tweed at Chester that they'd have gone to the lengths that you've implied. Everybody knew that if SNA could reproduce his 2yo form round there, he'd make mincemeat of an exposed horse like Harris Tweed.
As far as Misty For Me was concerned yesterday, I don't believe her form is inconsistent in the least. I backed her yesterday because I was of the opinion that she prefers a track like the Curragh compared to an undulating track like Epsom. Her form at the Curragh is impeccable and she was getting 12Ibs from Midday who had a hard race in the Coronation Cup and whose only previous run at the Curragh was a relatively disappointing 3rd to Sariska in the 2009 Irish Oaks. It seems to me that your were talking through your pocket to say that O'Brien's horses are inconsistent because you'd done your brains on Midday.
Chance Gardner.....For your information I did not back SNA at 1/3 when he got beat, I don't back horses at that price, but I did have a punt on Harris Tweed at Chester!

Allied Powers the 2nd at Chester was 8/8 yesterday behind Duke Box Jury in the listed contest at Newmarket.
I have many contacts from my days working as an oncourse bookmaker, so I get to hear alot of things. Perhaps you can rewatch the race for me and give your opinion on Fortunes stop start tactics onboard Chink Of Light and wether you believe the tactics he used were in the best interest's of the horse he was riding. Anyone with half a brain can work out what's going on, it only slipped under the radar at the time because it wasn't another AOB runner that was upsetting HT, but ofcourse that would have been to obvious.

Shergar, I never for a minute thought you'd backed SNA on his first start this season but I had a pretty good inkling you'd backed Harris Tweed. You seemed to be suggesting that O'Brien's horses were inconsistent using SNA's first run as an example of this. He got to where he is today by his hard work and his pure genius as a trainer. He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth, unlike other trainers we could name.

Chance Gardner....I'm not suggesting Harris Tweed could have win the Coronation Cup, but at Chester if given an uncosted lead he is a very good animal, he won a listed race there by 10 lengths last season, some horses are just very good on these tight left handed courses, Debussy is another, it's a specialist track Chester and over the years I've seen some horse improve there form by 10+ pounds. Even on a fair track like Ascot Harris Tweed was runner up in the Hardwicke, only beaten 3L by the G1 bound Await The Dawn and he's a much better horse at Chester, what does that tell you?
Like I've said rewatch the race, and tell me Jimmy Fortune gave his horse every chance of winning, or do you think a stop start gallop were he continually heads and then let's Harris Tweed back through, is the best tactics for his horse?
