Totally agree, I said the same in another thread that I felt we would be bottom three but the majority were saying no chance, was worried I was going mad but glad someone else shares the same concerns. My concern is the same as last years as in we should have 90% of the first team in place before pre-season starts, any new players coming into the squad now have very little time to adjust and slot in. With all the Italian players being linked it isn't just a new squad and team but a new country, homes to find, families to settle in and everything else that comes with it. We are a long way behind where we need to be... That 16-0 thrashing of the nobodies is probably the worst thing that could have happened, expectations rise, the owner thinks maybe the squad is better than it is and just the same as in previous seasons we will have one or two good results before the wheels come off.
The reason we are behind was because of the long drawn out takeover. I personally don't like too many foreigners in the team, but it's like that's the way it is at the moment. I'm going to give everyone a chance and not give up on another season before it starts. I agree with you that not having the squad settled with 4 weeks to go could be a nightmare and it isn't ideal, but that's the way it is, there's nothing we can do about it. But if things don't go well early on, I'm sure a lot of supporters will let the team, manager and owner know this and we know how patient Cellino is with coaches. Just buckle in and enjoy the ride........
I don't disagree with you apart from one thing, the takeover should not have delayed anything when it comes to lining up potential targets. I believe Cellino should splash the cash on two players who would make us and the rest of the league think wow they mean business. How many extra season ticket sales and bums on seats would a few exciting players bring to the ground? Doing it Cellino's way is the way it has to be, I know that, I know we can't change it but it doesn't stop me from being very concerned, I can't enjoy something that isn't there (enjoy the ride). Doing it Cellino's way is always going to come with the rejections because the offer isn't enough followed by the not willing to meet the wage demands, we were always going to have a lot of rejections. I do wonder about Cellino's claims about 5 players set to join on closing day of the transfer window in January when his takeover was delayed. I am not even against the coach coaching the team and the president/owner/manager making the signings, if anything it should be a quicker process than lumping everything on the traditional manager
Nile Ranger is a f**king tw*t, he can`t get a deal at our club. Can`t see how Cellino will put up with this massive t**t!! He should of got charged with assault in Swindon after repeatedly smacking a young girl he took home after a night out, video below. http://youtu.be/-7K0cQIDkwY
Ristac I think if I were MC and had loads of cash, I would think to myself (Being business savvy) I need to put a toe in first as this is England and things work differently. I'm not going to throw in my wedge and find I've ****ed up, I'm going to see how things work and invest as I go along. That's the way a businessman works mate, he's not going to be stupid, even though right now Dave looks like he is. Yes we may end up with the fittest squad but we need some ball players too.
Start with who we have at present and we are relegation material, that is the way I see it. The squad wasn't good enough last year, subtract from that squad Ross and throw in the couple we have managed to get and we are a long way short. I didn't like Brown personally but he was still one of the better players, along with the others who have left and we have a very weak squad to call upon when injury strikes. I am not saying those released were good players but they were need to replace them and not with trouble like Nile Ranger and Blackman, why we are offering trials alone to these players is disturbing enough. He can dip his toe in if he likes but by the time he has had a taste we could have sunk a league lower. Besides, I wouldn't call sacking the amount of players and staff that he already has and closing Thorpe Arch dipping a toe in, more all guns blazing What a scum bag
I can't believe the club would take a chance with this coward, we are trying to get a team who will bond together, bringing him in would undermine all that and I feel he would be a bad influence on dressing room morale.
There won't be any marquee signings as that would disrupt the equilibrium. The pattern so far seems to be sign hungry players with a point to prove. Maybe they're talented but tainted, like Ranger and Blackman. Or they're young up and coming Italians at clubs like AC Milan and need more game time to break through. It looks as though we're going to have a them again us mentality, the aim is to have a team spirit second to none, to build a formidable Leeds United on a budget. Can't see any middle ground, it's either going to work incredibly well or bomb disastrously.
I thought we couldn't be hated any more than we already were a couple of years back when we signed Diouf already having the thug Brown play for us, imagine next season with Blackman and Ranger. I wonder if we have been linked with Barton yet
Maybe he's on his way to Leeds for a different sort of trial? If you do sign him, will he get your support though?
