It will be interesting if Man Utd go into every league game with the intention of securing a 0-0 draw in the hope of winning on penalties.

 

Dreadful game last night - neither side deserved to win - perhaps they decided to treat it as a gentle stroll around so that their energy is conserved for Sunday

 

Yes it was pretty poor, but I thought that both sides suffered from fear. Fear of the other teams star players, who were marked out of the game, and fear of not getting to the final.

 

Funny how opinions differ - I thought the first 90 minutes were really enthralling and enjoyed it as a game where both sides were trying to size each other up and work out a way through. The extra time did certainly pan out in the way Leonardo describes aside from the odd, rare outbreak of attacking. There was definitely too much mutual respect and not a little fear among both sides though.

 

Neither side wanting to take a risk.... not a good advert for potential world champions....

 

I had to eat a lot of Thornton's chocolate covered toffee last night to get through the game...and the wrong team won whereas during the Brazil v Germany match I did not have time to top up my beer!

It was rather like a slow game of chess. In hindsight I think Holland should have forgotten Messi and just played their normal game.

 

90 seconds in and two monumental cock ups by the ref... 1. Outside the box; 2 red card all day, all season long. Woeful.

Netherlands playing a strong side and doing well considering Van Gaal said he wasn't bothered about the game.

Says a lot about Brazil I think...as Dan suggests you'd think they would be up for it to prove a point.
