    No. Please not Defoe.

This but more so. Been crap, injury prone and a horrible little twat for over 2 years. Cant see him enjoying life outside the smoke either. Would be on an enormous salary and will create a host of problems in the dressing room IMHO.

I sincerely hope this is just a horrible rumour and has not one once of truth in it. Crouch 10 times the player and bloke for my money.

I couldn't give two hoots if someone is a bit flashy, what's he done that so wrong? I'm unaware of it. Him and crouch are obviously entirely different players but if they played the same amount of games Defoe would outscore him every single time. Top players are bound to have a lil edge and I'm sure league two is full of nice chaps. Its the nature of the beast. Two month ago every would have said a certain premier league footballer was a model pro and family man.

Crouch doesn't influence games, doesn't score enough goals, and is of the wrong age.

Decent player, always has been, but a bad fit for us, it would be a nightmare waiting to happen.

Defoe? I don't like the lad, but he can score goals from nothing, and him an Gyan together, with their mobility, combined with good service from Sess and Larsson, sounds a real handful to me, so i'd like to see him here.

For Crouch read Tore Andre Flo.

Defoe: petulant little so and so yes. However, he is a damn good player when he is at his best, of that I have no doubt.

    Exactly RAW,

There ain't a soul on the planet who can say Defoe wouldn't be a huge improvement, and a marquee signing.

I'll confess that i'd worry a wee bit about the lack of height up front.

Defoe, would be a good signing, don't think we'd pay him enough though..

Very good player, always hits the target but its not what we are looking for due to his hight.

Wages would also be an issue.

    Last 3 years

Defoe: P 83 (only 83 games through injury and lack of form) Goals: 37 - Average: 2.24
    Crouch: P 131 (over 40 games a season) Goals: 40 - Average: 3.27

    Career

    Defoe: P 432 Goals: 178 - Average: 2.43
    Crouch: P 456 Goals: 143 - Average: 3.11

    England

    Defoe: P 46 Goals: 15 - Average: 3.06
    Crouch: P 42 Goals: 22 - Average: 1.90

Crouch is only 15 months the senior of Defoe, is a good character and bubbly lad to have n the dressing room, scores goals but has assists far out numbering Defoe and is a team player. Technically excellent and good in the air.

Defoe is 29 in October, is a horrible little self centred twat who will disrupt the harmony of the dressing room and who has a goal scoring record not that dissimilar to Crouch. On form over 3 years, Crouch is less injury prone, has played more games and scored more goals.

I know where my £10m would be spent?

Erm..........I will gladly be that soul BB. Defoe is a horrible little twat of a man for whom I have no respect or desire to see in a red and white shirt. He is injury prone and selfish as a person. He would disrupt the dressing room not add to it and its a huge no ta from me mate.

    Cest,

I won't argue Crouch's quality, and i won't argue that he's an affable and likeable fella, but it's my opinion that he just wouldn't work here.

It's that nagging thing in my head, my gut instinct, that if he came up here his heart wouldn't be in it, his lass wouldn't wanna be here, they have a young un, the circumstances are wrong for him to move up here.

It's just my opinion, but i feel it'd be a disaster waiting to happen.

If he came, i'd back him, if he did well, i'd be delighted, it just feels wrong to me.

What gives you the feeling that Defoe would relish the NE as a home?

Mr South East /London lad about town Defoe probably doesnt know where Sunderland is? If there is an expensive disaster waiting to happen it wouldnt be Crouch IMO.

I can't argue that side Cest, but i think that Defoe, more so than Crouch, would thrive on the fans backing.

Whatever we think of him now, a few goals, and he will be accepted, and loved.

Remember, 'nice guy' Bent ****ed us over, Defoe has been pretty loyal to clubs his whole career, just the one move, and that was unquestionably a good one, for his career.

Are we talking about the same player kidda?

Defoe was spotted and nurtured by Charlton as a schoolboy then ****ed them over to join W ham. A lengthy and acrimonious argument over compensation ensured between WHU and Charlton thereafter. Loyalty?

He Left WHU after handing in a written transfer request only 30 mins after WHU were relegated. He must have written it BEFORE the result of relegation was even known. Loyalty?

Joined Spurs but left to go to Pompey when he was offered club bankrupting wages and after sucking them dry, wanted out of the sinking ship that was the good ship Pompey to go back to Spurs. Loyalty?

He is a self centred me, me, me merchant and will demand massive wages for the inconvenience of him having to move up to the Antarctic of the North.

His heart will be forever elsewhere and this would show immediately. The second a London or Southern club came in for him, he'd ditch is without thought. However, unlike Judas, I dont think Defoe has it in him anymore at this level and I think he is finished mentally and physically.

Sorry mate but no way for me.

Once again Cest I agree with you, it will be hard to take if Vermain puts on the red and white. Personally I cannot see it unless Gyan is going. We will get a big lad up front to partner up with Gyan as the main strike force and a couple of young players to fill in for injuries suspension etc. We lacked a heading goal threat last season and Bent/Quinn have said as much. VD and Gyan are too similar to play together IMHO.

Well Kevin Phillips put in 3 transfer requests, with only the last one being granted.

Every player has to look out for himself, we would.
