Agree with all those sentiments - I haven't seen such a wayward defensive display since a Sunday morning pub match at Wanstead Flats but at least those guys were nursing hangovers. £50M for Luiz eh....bet PSG are looking for the receipt.

The crazy thing for me is just looking at the depth of talent Germany have.

Consider Lars Bender and Gundogan are injured yet they still have the likes of Khedira.

They literally have 2-3 world class players in most positions.

The Mail had an article up saying that Ozil "hardly got a kick in the game" and was lazy and rubbish in the victory. After about 10 comments pointing out that Ozil was statistically perfectly fine in what was after all a record victory, it was changed to "Ozil failed to shine", and now it has been deleted altogether.

    Sad excuse for a newspaper.

TBH, i thought he was pretty average. Kroos stole the show for me.

    Tonights game will be interesting.

I expect Netherlands to be the better side.

But I think Messi will single handedly drag Argentina to another win.

It was a fairly typical Ozil performance, I agree, but 88% passing as a forward is fairly remarkable. I think he is always going to be fairly enigmatic when he plays and is going to spark a lot of controversy.

He is definitely an acquired taste, but it seems to me every time he gets the ball, the other side start panicking and space opens up for everyone else. I don't think Germany would look half as good without him there, but I couldn't tell you exactly why.

Here is an article in the Independent, about sums it up for me. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...elder-works-magic-in-the-shadows-9592794.html

"Bite. Energy. Pace. Those are the virtues we idolise in the modern day. Ozil utilises few of them. His game is, and has always been, about selflessness. He creates space, often drawing several defenders out of position. He finds the most astonishing through balls. He enables the great superstars.

The greatest superstar of all, Cristiano Ronaldo, knew this. He adored working with Ozil at Real Madrid and affectionately named him “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”. It was a strikingly poetic moment from the Portuguese, and a rather accurate one at that. Ozil is a magician, insofar as he makes things happen without the spectator noticing he has done so. He is the apprentice, in that he hands the limelight to his more extravagant contemporaries."

Sadly, unless you're a prolific striker or a wingback for example that bombs up and down the wings constantly putting in those great crosses, our spastic press just don't care. After having watched Germany in their games (barring the USA one) this is quite the accurate article. Just him being on the pitch as others here have mentioned will pull defenders out of position, that alone creates space for others let alone everything else Ozil does.

True but at the same time David Silva still gets a lot of praise (as did Modric). There's a definite Arsenal bias there.

Im personally confident Ozil will have a good Season. Looking forward to seeing him linking up with Sanchez. (fingers crossed)

How can ITV still have the Dutch down as 'Holland' on the scoreboard? For ****'s sake, it's like referring to the UK as England.

Happy for the Dutch to go through, though if they do Germany need to pump them rotten in the final. Next season will be unbearable if LvG joins United as the manager who won the World Cup.
