Carra wasn't exactly an established first team player when he came to us though, was he? Who was our last one? Barmby, Xavier? I honestly can't remember.
Xavier didn't count as he was total mince Barmby is the only one who really caused a stir in my lifetime, and he wasn't a Blue. No way on God's Earth you'll ever land Barkley
Yeah, fair points. I doubt we'd get him either. More likely he'll move to Chelsea, City or United eventually -- although, like you (I'm sure), I'd prefer him to stay with Everton. Local lad should play in a local team, if he can.
A sad reality that at some point one of the oil clubs or United will hoover him up with a wages offer that we can't get anywhere near and we'll lose another top draw local Evertonian talent.....meh.
Can we have Coleman then? Would be a shame to see him and Barkley waste their careers at Neverton....... please log in to view this image
Seamus has just signed a new 5 year deal. Love the lad and his attitude is top drawer. He must go down as the bargain of the Century - £60k ffs. Moyes had his faults, but he could sure spot a player.
Yeah your whole defence cost less than Sakh O'**** I'm not sure contracts mean **** all these days tbh (other than getting a good price) but sounds like the majority of them are enjoying life under Martinez so can't see any willing to take on the stress of a move across the park. Think you'll be lucky to keep hold of both for much longer though.
Depends on where we get to mate. If we can continue to progress then who knows. Barry signing permanently is good news for us today.
Would be a shame to see him leave for one of the above.. I agree, unless we give them a stupid offer and even then I doubt they'll take it, he isn't gonna be playing in Red (well our red shirt) ever. He keeps on improving and gets tactically better when without the ball, he's got the potential to be the best all round midfielder in the country for years to come!
Never that fussed on Barry me. Decent but not sure signing him permanently will keep you progressing. You need a goalscorer and someone to replace Lukaku if he goes elsewhere. We've got an Aspas to spare if you want to let Rubbertoe know Borinio maybe? Swap deal for Barkley?
Barry was vital to the way we played last season mate. His experience in the holding role combined his ability to read the game and act as the pivot was the cornerstone of our success. For me it was crucial that we retained him. If we don't manage to sign Lukaku on a permanent, then we need someone to replace his 15 goals, a striker is now our main priority. Traore might be coming over from Barca to replace Deulofeu
fair nuff but you ended more or less the same as when you had sideshow bob and the poor fella isn't getting any younger.. I would say yeah next season its a decent move if the wages is right and your lot may have viewed it with the 2.5mil fee as being a long term deal even if the loan was just 1 year but 2.5mil for a freebie seems a bit of a mugging. I beleive traore was linked elsewhere though.... not sure... striker is for sure a huge priority but i assume you have lots fo cash to buy one not loan one... lukaku seems to want a big move but may get a bit of a shock and come crawling... but wel'll see. Are you typing 15 goals deliberately to down play the player to raved about last year I could score 15 FFS.
I would really think that martinez knows the value of actually trying to win stuff so I'd like to see everton win a trophy. League cup? Fa cup? either would be great for the club... but as for progress... it'll take an amazing season for anyone to break the top 4 if we just ignore the bias and admit utd will be spending hugely to get back in asap.
We didn't pay £2.5m. They put a clause in the loan agreement that said we had to pay them £2m if we signed him on a permanent, as they were heavily subsidising his wages. We refused to pay it and a compromise was reached at about half of the that. Traore has been linked with us, together with the other Traore that we had on the sick last season from Monaco. Lukaku hasn't ruled out a return, he said only last week that he could well come back to Goodison, so we live in hope. As for 15 league goals being easy to replace.....Lukaku is the only Everton striker to score 15 league goals since the Yak in 2007/8 - and before that it was Kanchelskis in 1996 ffs. So hardly a doddle.... (as you'll find out with knobs on when you try and replace Jaws 31 )
In all honesty does anybody, apart from Tobes, truly give a **** about Everton's prospects for the season - or the ones after if it comes to that? There's far too much scope to consider just who we need to import and how we are gong to change tactics to continue the start that we made last season! Now Berkley isn't coming to us. I'm as yet unsure if he is what we need. The kid has talent but is truly not yet ready for a full Prem season - let alone CL. So let him learn those lessons elsewhere. Hate to say it but there's as good out there for far less money.
