99%? Really.....

Behave yourself.

There's a damn site more than 1% of claimants who see their benefits as a right as opposed to the safety net which was the reason for its creation.

In the mid to late 90's this country should have achieved virtual full employment, but we still carried over 2 million spongers who just couldn't be arsed filling the vacancies that the Eastern European economic migrants were more than happy to fill.

Then people like you, defend the kind of racist idiot, who was shown tonight, 'white power' tattooed on the back of his thick skull, who no doubt spouts about immigrants 'taking our jobs' when he's never done a day in his life.

Meh, the spectrum is vast and there's wrong across all levels of it, but excusing one end while vilifying the other is ridiculous and I don't accept that obvious disparity

if only you had even the remotest idea of the amounts of money involved and what proportion of national expenditure the dole actually is. it's not worth your ire. throw away your daily mail and lose your anger.

let me give you some numbers.

uk government expenditure for 2014-15 (source: http://www.ukpublicspending.co.uk/government_expenditure.html) is planned to be £728.7 billion. that's national and local government.

that includes £149.6 billion on pensions. that is about 21%.

it includes £6 billion on unemployment. not even 1%. i assume that's job seekers allowance, so it doesn't include other benefits. two million people getting about £3.5k a year. how many of those two million do you think are feckless scroungers?

there are more worthy targets at which you can vent your spleen.

I'll be watching it.

Only so I can spend the hour getting excited seeing places I've seen on TV... I have no idea why

lol
I didn't watch it, but I can totally relate to that. "OMGOMG I KNOW THAT PLACE!!!!" Dunno why, but it almost seems magical seeing a place you go to on the TV still.

This type of show though is just a modern version of the Victorian tours of mental homes. Allows people who don't realise how lucky they are to mock those less fortunate. Sad stuff.

If the government put as much effort into closing tax loopholes & targeting tax avoidance & fraud as they put into hounding benefit claimants the country would be a lot better off.

2011/12

Total public sector fraud = £20.3 Billion

Benefit Fraud = £1.6 Billion ( less than 1% of total benefit payments)

Tax Fraud = £14 Billion (69% of total public sector fraud)

Benefit Fraud is the second lowest fraud calculated by the UK Government, only identity fraud is lower.

On a side note:-

Benefits paid in error = £2.2 Billion
Benefits not paid in error = £1.2 Billion

Tax fraud does not include tax avoidance which costs the treasury upward of £70 billion a year.

Can't see anything wrong in what tobes has been saying myself.

Thank you.

Excusing the behaviour of feckless scroungers by citing tax evasion or the %age of the National purse that they consume, totally avoids the fact, that what they're doing is simply wrong and should have no place in our Society.

The mere fact that there appears to an eagerness to excuse and accept the practice speaks volumes.

I wonder how much the smug sounding voice over bint got?

Given these programmes are edited to present the worst view possible as 'entertainment' I don't think the people came out too bad.

The bulk seemed to be seeking work, even the skinhead, seemingly getting a good payment was looking after his disabled child, which would otherwise cost the state, and also looking after his daughter.

I thank my lucky stars I'm not in their position. There but for the grace of God.

Hull always suffers with the statistics because of how our boundary is used to get these figures - in most cities they will include surrounding villages n suburbs to raise averages - in hull this isn't the case

This ^^^^^^ .

I came out of work 2 years ago after working all my life and paying my taxes and NI contributions (Am I a ****ing scrounger Tobes?) I'm now 60yrs old and have been told by a few prospective employers that they're looking for younger people even though this is illegal. Even though i've paid all my dues towards my State pension I can't retire yet so I can come off unemployment money, just the opposite. I've been told my retirement age is now 67, so I know i've possibly got another 7yrs of being lumped in with the true scroungers. Miss an appointment and you're threatened with being sanctioned, don't do enough to find work you're threatened with being sanctioned. The least little thing they can find wrong they'll sanction you.

There is some of us out there who genuinely want work but because of my age it's getting increasingly harder to find it and please don't give me this look harder ****. Until you've experienced it you haven't a clue.

I'm not defending those on the programme because I never watched it, just saying how it is with me.

BIG HUGS ROVER TIGER.

NO WAY ARE YOU A SCROUNGER.

stay positive and do not let your situation have a negative effect on your mind.
Its not your fault .....

I know a number of people who won't ever work again and are on various benefits.
Not one of them likes the position there in.

I've already seen next weeks programme.

I saw it down at the out laws a few months back, how odd.

Anyways, if you got wound up by Gordon and co you'll be f**king livid at the fat **** from Romania in next weeks programme.

He'll steal anything from anybody, pure scum.

The racket on national insurance numbers is a piss take as well.

Its situations like yours that the benefit system was designed to help, its just a shame you get idiots like those on the program that take advantage and give claimants a bad name.

Hope you manage to find work soon pal.

SCRUFFY BONEHEAD ,.......DMD.

The idiot wouldn't know a real skinhead if one jumped on his white power
Racist head..

Tobes - any benefit fraud is wrong, but then on the same level (which is costing this country a great deal) is tax avoidance/evasion. Both are as wrong as the other BUT there is a group in society who seem to think that one (the avoidance of paying tax) is quite all right but then leap up and down on the cases we see on Saints and scroungers on the BBC (which is a small percentage of the actual benefits claimants). In fact you sound like that Katie Hopkins woman who was on a Benefits discussion show on Channel 5

Luxury, I came out of work at a similar age, lived in a shoe box in the middle of the M62, worked 48 hours a day, eight days a week, with no holidays.........etc......but because I was self employed and paid into the system since leaving school at 15, including years of being VAT registered, I am not entitled to any social security money. Not even JSA. But Gordon the moron, the 'skinhead' from Bransholme, never worked a day in his 42 years on this earth trousers £450 a week. That's fair, isn't it ?

Try reading the posts properly love, and then you'll see my thoughts about tax evasion in this thread. <doh>
