It seems to be almost certain from everything coming out - but it's not exactly clear. Is it a 2 year deal that came in to effect on his birthday? Because the fact the club say he signed a 2 year deal several months ago contradicts league rules unless I'm mistaken?

Ducker is in his mid-thirties, typical. He's travelled the world pretty much constantly for the last twenty years, and once paid for a helicopter to bring him from Orkney to Charlton for a 2-2 draw with Gillingham. Granted, he is as mad as a hatter.

Didn't they just say that he signed a 2-year deal earlier this year? I'm surprised they didn't give it a bit more publicity. Inevitably it will be full of get-out clauses, but at least he did sign up.

A 2 year deal months ago would be a junior contract though. It's possible it was a pre contract that kicked in on his 17th birthday - but the lack of transparency on it does concern me.

There were also genuine fears when Chelsea were hovering around him at the time of the England under 17 tournament too.

I'm sure one of the journo's will seek clarity on the issue at welling.

Yes that was a great concern, but it was a great relief that he survived all the pressure that I imagine he was put under by the starlets from the "BIG" clubs to join them. Any contract, however tenuous, is better than none.

Today's press are linking Gomez with Newcastle and Everton. It should also be pointed out that "Charlton are looking to tie Gomez down".

I said I has my doubts to what peeters said about contracts.

It was the OS that mentioned he signed a 2-year contract, during the course of the interview, not Bob himself, which is even worse. If it turns out out not to be true it will be disappointing that the OS has actually twisted the truth.

Bob has said he will give youth a chance. If we let Gomez go, having signed Bikey and TBH, those words will sound more than a little hollow.

Yes and it wasn't just Bob, it was Roland himself who said he chose Bob because he had "that mindset" to play the "young guns", which incidentally was something Riga was doing very successfully already.

Cant see us allowing another Poyet situation to develop...

Reckon at the moment they are trying to get Gomez to sign a new deal who will in my opinion sign (Just the attitude you get from the Peeters interview about him.. Worked hard doing extra training over the summer, put himself in the Managers mind by saying he could do 90mins against St-Truiden etc...), plus he doesnt have someone like Gus Poyet advising him.

I was just remembering the first time I saw Gomez play, I was watching a U-18 game with AHLL, and there was a remarkable player at CB. I asked AHLL what age he was , and I couldn't believe he was 15. I was absolutely gobsmacked. He would have been good at that level even if he had been 17. Ever since then I've wanted to see him play for the first team, and I reckon that once he is in he'll be there to stay.
