If input on a new points system is appreciated, I would suggest that we move onto something that doesn't reward lucking out on the correct scoreline so much, and actually gauges how well/badly the person predicted the team would do against the opposition throughout the season.
I would go with:
2 points for the correct result
and
+ 2 points if you get the correct scoreline (4pts), or
+ 1 point if only the goal difference is correct (3pts total)
If you get the correct scoreline (4pts):
+ 1 if you get half or more of the correct goalscorers (I have no strong opinion on this one, it can be like the old one...)
With the current system even if we were Man Utd., a guy who only predicted wins but got the most correct scorelines through the season would still win it. (which isn't very realistic)

how about
4 points for a win result correctly predicted.
2 points for a draw result correctly predicted.
1 point for a loss result correctly predicted.
Where is the logic in that though? People already predict Arsenal to win 99% of the time. Predicting a loss and a draw is a much more of a risky bet that should be rewarded.
This would make it even worse.
I think what should be corrected is the overt reliance on correct scorelines.
it was done in tongue in cheek hence my comment PS is that complicated enough for SJW to work out, or has he disappeared for ever.
