Looks like he's going to West Ham. Gutted, best left-back in the Championship, young, eager to impress and improve and for a reasonable fee.

Exactly the sort of player we should have been in for!!!

Maybe Ashley Cole is coming instead?

Another slips through the net without us even making an offer...

We're waiting for the world cup to be over. Only the elite for us.

Got a very cultured left foot (takes direct free kicks and scores the odd wonder goal) but was not as good last year as the one before. The Ipswich fans never really shouted his praises in most matches and seem to regard him more as an asset than a main contributor.

Watching YSY for Korea, I think he has some real potential too and the only thing that I'd say went against him was he looked a bit nervous. I'd give him a starting place in the Prem and watch him grow into it (and I believe he really would).

How do you know we weren't in for him?
How do you know an offer was not made?

Maybe our agent spoke to his agent who said "no effing way" or "£65,000 a week + add-ons".

I don't know ... and neither do you!

Are we are going to get this for EVERY reasonable player who signs for someone else just because you want to have a pop at thwe club/manager/chairman?

Bit touchy Eamon? Thought this board was about opinions and mine is that I think he's a good, young player at a good price and would have liked to see him at QPR.

I don't know for sure we didn't go in for him. Perhaps I should have worded it "this is the sort of player I'd have liked to see us sign".

Actually think Trippier from Burnley was best left back in Championship last year....but that's splitting hairs.....

Out of interest does anyone know what happened to the lad Smith I think that MK Dons had on loan from Spurs a couple of seasons ago....he looked a fine left back when we played them in the cup in our first prem season. Seem to recall he wasn't happy about going out on loan anymore to lower league clubs....maybe that says all I need to know about attitude but could still be useful as right age etc....?

Eamon if Harry Redknapp was a religion you would be Pope.

Your approach to defending his infalibility is blind faith and you’ve taken up an omipresent approach to all half decent targets that other fans get disappointed at missing out on.

How can you take up the stance that we are in for anyone unless there is proof otherwise?

It cant be proved that we havent tried to sign players like Cresswell, Livermore and Huddlestone. Is clear however that we did go in for Ince and we missed out. We have missed out to Hull and to West Ham.

So think about it.. do you honestly think that we cant compete with them in transfer market? Seems to me that its more sensible to assume that we are missing out on another shrewd signing like Cresswell because we havent gone in for him. And its completely unreasonable that you think it’s an equally or more likely scenario that these signings have all made crazy wage demands that we cant compete with but West Ham and Hull can?!?!?

Presume you think the same with Bryson signing a new deal with Derby... couldnt meet his wage demands

I like Cresswell but I don't believe that he is better than YSY.

Whether we made a bid for him is an irrelevance, but I'm sure he would feel that he would be playing more games for West Ham than he would for us.

I hope we didn't make any bid for Watercress because as long as we get Traore signed up again, we got LB covered with him and Yun, plus Clint as additional back up when we get to play a team without any speed out wide.

Hi Tramore mate. If my memory from Football manager serves my correct I believe both Trippier and Smith are right backs. That said, they can for all I know also be good left backs. Trippier' signature skill is his right foot and his crosses from the right side.
