Thanks gents. Think I must've been on holiday or asleep regards the time of this plotline. Saw Gemmel post on TSW thread with the same name... "The "coming soon" and then no further responses to when will it be, suggests it could get ugly...... there again it could be good news, my guesses would be; 1) It's a threat to the club...I'll go online and tell the fans how the club have broken all their promises and cause a Sh!t storm. 2) The club have made it clear he wont get his move this summer and he has finally accepted this and comes on to tell us everything we've read is bolliacks and he cant wait for new season. 3) Simply use it as a way of explaining why he wants away, how much he has enjoyed his time here etc.......Which would make it almost impossible to bring him back into the fold." Which of those options does the info currently suggest is most likely?
I would hope, and I actually do think, that it's number 2. I think he's probably accepted he's staying for at least one more season and is just 'getting on with it' now.
I hope it's number 2 as well. Hopefully he really isn't going to turn out to be an actual number two after all! I don't understand what doing something like this, at this time (when we all know he has handed in a transfer request), will achieve though. He must know what all the questions will be about.
You know, I'm actually thinking it's number 2 as well. If just because putting the Southampton profile picture back on has given me a little bit of hope. If it's number 1 then he can **** himself along with twatbeard.
When he did it before was it in conjunction with the club? Or am I getting mixed up with the time he was out injured and he did the matchday action tweet things? Was that even him??!!
I get the feeling at least initially his transfer request was a reactionary one from Poch leaving under a bit of a cloud. Then with all the 'boys club' deciding to leave together, he joined in. Now he's been told to stay, here's hoping he's thinking, "actually, this ain't too bad after all, and it could be interesting working with Ronald Koeman. Let's give it a go and see how it all shapes out". In many ways he was one of our most 'committed to the cause' players for much of last season - I think that's in his nature, so I would like to think he's turned the corner and is back in that mindset again.
I think it is because he was so committed to the cause, or at least appeared to be, that it's why it is so disappointing that things seem to have turned out this way. He seemed to have really integrated himself so well, both on and off the pitch. But yes, let's hope a corner has been turned, and maybe he realises that working with a former world class defender may not be such a bad thing after all. And as we saw last season, he fancies himself as a free kick taker - well big Ron may again have a few tips for that too!
Tbh it wouldn't surprise me if Poch and Lallana got into his head a bit. Long as he isn't dumb enough to answer anything Liverpool related.
I'm hoping no.2. Now Koeman has the opportunity to impress on him, things could turnaround. Apparently he's a Liverpool fan so fingers crossed they're not interested enough to put in an offer. Anyway if things start to go that way, I've got Nikky Arthur Vuksan's contact details (Lovren's agent). I'm sure a quick call wouldn't do any harm.
It's all been agreed. Lovren met with the board and Koeman. They had a long discussion and after a could if hours of mature, adult conversation, the club agreed that Lovren could go with one condition: he will leave when he has scored more career goals that Ronald did
According to The Echo, Lovren is not going to come back for pre season training. I think number 2 looks unlikely.
Wish we would just take on one of the players (aka Lovren) and not sell him....to hell with the 20 million. Let him rot. But..it's not my money and we could use the money to buy a willing replacement. Is it time to make an example of a player or is it better to be pragmatic and build for the future? One is a decision from the heart and one from the brain.
Not if he continues how he has been, I would rather get rid if the right bid comes in. I haven't heard anything for a few weeks but was told 18m+ will do it. Yes the board may have changed their mind and wish not to sell. But you can't have a player being as disruptive as him about. I am still hoping the Echo isn't right but surely some one would come out to denie this? When I read he may strike on twitter I couldn't see it. If true I guess he is a bigger twat then I thought.
Hasn't actually been disruptive yet....could be salvageable, but I suspect it will difficult to turn round now others have gone and he can virtually smell a move to Scousehampton.
