Nothing on here about his departure (compare with the Pink Un board, which has had a couple of heated debates). Maybe we're scared of arguing amongst ourselves again, because Snodgrass was certainly a player who divided opinion.

Personally I'm glad he's gone, and delighted to have got so much money for him with just one year left on his contract. Now that he's gone, Adams will more or less have to try to set the team up in a different way. I know he may have done this in any case, but it will surely be a lot easier to do without any temptation to slip back to the past.

100% agree with this statement (and Thai's).

I lost count of the number of times I wanted him to pass/cross the ball rather than try to be 'the hero' himself and IMO, he drifted in to the middle too often. Whether that was him or the way he was asked to play by CH, we'll never know, but I know several other fans who are glad to see he's gone and especially at the fee Hull have paid!!!

I've heard GBP 6m 7m and 8m fees so far. Anyone clear on how much we got for him or is it traditional NCFC "undisclosed fee"? Perhaps 6m rising to potentially $8m with triggers maybe? Either way, decent amount.

Snodgrass was only here for 2 years, and lets face it he only moved here because we were a premiership team at the time. He has always said he wanted to play in the premiership. It's no surprise he has gone. He's thanked the club and the fans for their support. Lets move on!

With all due respect the Lambert deal is completely different. They are still in the premiership, and probably would have liked to have kept him but they realised that they couldn't stand in the way of him moving to Liverpool. Playing for Southampton has resulted in him achieving a move to his dream club. Of course he would be pay tribute to them for that.

Looking at the reports:
BBC say it is "believed to exceed £6m"
Red tops say "£8m" with add-ons
Evening News say that it breaks the transfer record


Transfermarkt often have good inside info and they reckon the price was £6.6m. There will definitely have been add-ons - our current record sale is Ashton at £7.25m, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if the add-ons beat that, which may well take it close to £8m assuming Snodgrass meets targets.

That should give you a good idea of how much he cost. Either way, a fantastic price for someone in with 12 months on his contract. Siem de Jong cost the same amount for Newcastle! Though of course Snodgrass is a much safer bet in that he will definitely hit the ground running no problem (and irrespective of the arguments about his style and effect on the team, he is a fantastic footballer and was undoubtedly our best player over the last two seasons).


Record sale? Probably in numbers terms, but Ashton's price is worth well north of £9m now taking into account inflation and Sutton for £5m in 1994 is worth over £8.5m in today's monopoly money.

A guy who only decided he wanted to play properly in the later half of the season, anyway didn't see you calling him decent in the other thread? Thought you were quite glad to see the back of him. Telling someone to grow up after some of the self righteous sulks you've thrown on here in the past.

i am quite pleased to see him leave, yes, but i'm not immature enough to spit my dummy out just because the player didn't IMMEDIATELY tweet his praise of our fan base, a fan base which showed him little respect at times last year. lets not forget, snodgrass missed all of pre season last summer because of both injury and his wife being in a very serious traffic collision which could have killed herself and their unborn child. i also know he played with injections during the run in, yet showed more character than many fitter guys out there. i think maybe you should show a little more humanity - footballers are people, just like all of us. yes they are highly paid but they have emotions and sometimes, just sometimes, things affect them and their game suffers as a result. i liked snodgrass as a player, he is talented, but it is my opinion that he caused as many issues to the team as he solved - that is why i'm pleased he has left.
