american food (all) is awful.

belgians may have you guys there.

I say GO USA!!!!

I love the US, come on guys you can dot it.

after all we F'n do know that columbo, kojak, jessica fletcher and evendon johnson kicks poriot's ass all day long!

Love that attitude though, no point thinking that they'll get a spanking. I think they have a chance.

Of winning the thing?

Come on mate, they've suckered you in an 'all.

They've only got through by beating an awful Ghana side.

They've got a squeak tonight, but not a prayer of going all the way.

<laugh> Would have loved Ghana to be in Englands group to wipe that attitude off your face mate. Ghana awful? To be fair we were a bit lucky against them, they bossed Germany for various parts of the game, and barely lost to Portugal. Ya mate, awful that!

At least they got a point against a good side not some crap CONCACAF side, who are in quarters mind you.

No one here is actually thinking we are going to win the thing but we do think we can win this game if we play well, organized, compact, and take our chances.

Erm, what? If you meant unhealthy ya, but bad? Really?

I love the way the Americans are getting into this World Cup I'd like them to win this one.

As an ex-pat living in America- after England got knocked out so quickly... it would make my life unbearable!

Depends... Cheese, Chocolate, Beer, Bacon, Sausages, Chips... Yeah, America sucks.
Also, putting excess sugar in everything (like bread) takes a lot of getting used to...

... however, America has a lot of really good foods, and a wide variety of foods.

Fried Chicken, Shrimp and Grits, the modern Pizza (sorry Italy), popularization of the hamburger, hash browns, biscuits and gravy (American style biscuits- not real biscuits)... etc... there are a lot of great American foods. (most of which are unhealthy).

Falling into the stereo type that American beer is only Bud light, coors, miller, etc. That is piss water. Get the micro brews: Dogfish, Brooklyn, Anchor, Fat Tire, Yuengling, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, etc.

I've agreed with you on this many times, proper American beer is lovely.

Most of the American micro brews aren't very good either! I'm sorry... but putting excess hops into horse urine does not change it into good beer. You can't make beer good just by adding too many hops!

Not saying ALL American beer is bad... just most.

All countries have good and bad beers... America just has an disproportionate amount of bad-beers...

yes bad... sorry...

its variable honestly.

I was in new york. god awful really...

so if i go to other area oh i dunno chain resturants generally liek an olive garden, red lobster etc etc... nw longhorn steakhouse was ok... BUt compared to what i'd call "local" or non chain. I found them hard to find in US and in up state new york out of oh 15 resturants 1 was what i'd say was "good"

I mean the uk can't tlak but compared to european cuisine?

Usually the best places are the non-chain places... they can be hard to find... but local, independent places are almost always better. Usually the hole in the wall places are good.

Ahh so you prefer the diners, drive ins and dives then! The chains can be the same **** but that is the same anywhere.

Still much better than Belgium. :bandit:

<ok> Applies to everywhere imo.

What is the British equivalent to our Budweiser, Coors, etc? Boddington maybe?

piss **** and more piss? Many drink those very brands anyway but the microbrews I imagine are always better than the mass produced ****e.

I worked at the Guinness brewery in Dublin a while back, they make plenty of that ****e too for the Irish market but Diageo also deal in the micro brewery market setting them up all over the place from China to Nigeria.

my other half's dad travels around seeking out obscure brews too
