But there are a few points - this sort of situation tends to mean the player is better quality than price, but difficult to manage. As an extreme, take Pogba or Balotelli - difficult to manage and they get sold because of it


The point I was making is that clearly he is a liability, but we already knew that. It's not actually much new we're being told and the reason I said don't read too much is we don't know the reasons behind his behaviour - he might ahve struggled to settle. The fact is, we won't know if our management can handle him until they've tried. Also bear in mind that their President has an interest in justifying a sale to fans of a player who played a pretty big part in their promotion.

I maintain it's not worth looking at these statements as anything other than face value. OK, fine. Thanks Mr President, you've told me nothing I didn't know.

You make a fair point, though the impression I get from the make-up of the board is that day-to-day welfare is more likely to be dealt with by Royle, etc. Adams is strictly first team/match days


On Snodgrass, I agree he is perfect for the Championship, but you had one or two things to say about his passing ability if I recall correctly? And I agreed - his passing was sometimes wayward. Not quick enough, extra touches, etc. the figures being quoted are pretty good money for a guy with 12 months on his contract
 
I have to admit I know nothing about this guy but reading all these replies I'm a little more worried about it disrupting the dressing room and effecting the team spirit.
 
Having talked to friends in Italy, I think there's a bit of smoke and mirrors going on here. Many Palermo fans are angry that Lafferty is being sold and the owner's response is a reaction to this. To say that exaggeration is involved is something of an understatement. Don't believe everything you read on Twitter is my advice.
 
Well the President of Palmero has come out and said thee things I think he should be worried that his manager isn't good at handling big characters. Some of the best players in the world have diffciult sides.

Also yes it probably is exaggerated, and where exactly in Sunny Norfolk is goin to go womanising?

its no surprise to hear the words of the palermo president. everyone inside and outside football knows lafferty is trouble. but because he actually possesses a lot of talent, clubs will always take an interest and some will feel they can be the ones to tame the player. from suarez to balotelli to barton to lafferty - these players will always have suitors but more often than not, they will not change. we'd be better off avoiding him but equally i can understand why the club think they can get the best out of him.
 
It's a curious situation to be sure. If City do go ahead with signing Lafferty, it could be an indication that the management team is confident about dealing with difficult situations.
 
A three year deal in light of his misdemeanours seems excessive, but I suppose he's at an age where he's got resale value (26) so we'd look foolish if it was a short deal and we let him walk for nothing. Hopefully there's some behaviour-related clauses in there.

So RvW, Hooper, Grabban, Lafferty and Becchio - surely one of those has got to be on their way out then? Send Becchio back to Leeds in part-exchange for Sam Byram?

Lots of footballers are "womanisers" because they've got a lot of money and women throw themselves at them. It's on a plate. Bit concerned about the lack of training and disappearing for a week, but part of that may be he just was not settled in Italy. At least he "gives 120% on the pitch". It's all gone quiet now, but I wouldn't read too much into this.

Although it was many years ago a certain "womaniser" who also played for Ireland, was one of this country's top performing players. Unfortunately he did not play for City but I am sure even though he was a "womaniser" City fans would have loved to have had him in their team. The player I am speaking of is Manchester United's George Best. Would you have turned him and his skills away if he opted to play for City in the 60's all because he was a womaniser?
