    Both should step down let the new generation grow.

    Gerrard would have stepped down even if we'd won the world cup - he know's he's had his time, and it's time to move on.

    Rooney simply isn't a big tournament player, he can't handle the pressure. 1 goal in however many world cups is absolutely pathetic for your so called number one striker. Sturridge matched that in one game, he needs the new generation around him so England can develop. Not Rooney, he is well past his best - he peaked early, some players do, and Rooney is clearly one of those.

    Rooney has been a very good player for England bar World cups... But he has looked better in this one

    Messi went 8 years without a World Cup goal, is he **** too?
