If it helps, I also look at the vast majority of your posts and think 'what planet is he on'. Occasionally riddled with an expletive but mostly a roll of the eyes. The reasons I don't say what you want me to say (a smiling acceptance and overstating the players abilities) are simply that I don't feel them. And for this management team to stand any sort of chance, they'll have to make some stellar signing that negate NA lacking experience. Grabban was one I was keen to see arrive. Lafferty really isn't.
A) I'm pleased you are still picking on the positives, but it's looking likely.
B) Really? He's been playing overseas for a while now - and it's their option not to have signed him permanently. They didn't find it difficult, they just didn't want him.
C). So, if we were somehow to end up back in the PL, he'll be likely surplus to requirements. I'd have preferred to have signed someone who could potentially make that step up (ps, there are plenty out there that I think could, who aren't McCormack, Deeney or Rhodes or playing in the champ.
D) I'm not sure this 'point' is worthy of a response. What do Bale and Lafferty have in common?
E) Again, there a hefty proportion of 3/4th strikers I'd take over this guy. Becchio for one.
So every player that changes Clubs does so because they are useless and their current Club doesn't want them? For once I'm speechless!! Nothing to do with wanting to return to the Country of your birth to play for a decent side when the chance arises? I suggest, my friend, that you read Robs excellent post 11, take a deep breath and take in a sharp dose of realism. He will come here as a squad player and as such will spend a lot of time on the bench. Who do you think that a medium size Championship Club can get within a Championship budget for fee and wages? We have spent big on RVW, Hooper and Grabban - the likes of Becchio and Lafferty are there as cover.
Didn't he? What did you base that on? Did you base that on 30 odd games you saw, playing for a manager that didn't like attacking, or did you base that on his previous seasons strike rate and goals, playing in a team and for a manager that knew what they were doing? If you are really now under the impression that RVW is a bad player, based on last season alone, then there's really little point continuing.

I appreciate that subtleties aren't your strong point, but the idea was to demonstrate that going straight to someone's goal scoring record or their vital statistics as listed on wikipedia is not the way to assess the quality of a player. For the record (if anything it would be breaking the record) I have always maintained that RvW is a quality player who has had an unfortunate season for a variety of reasons and I am confident he will come good. Yes, obviously he's a significantly better player than Lafferty, but "funnily enough" the statistics don't always show that.
And what on earth have you seen in RVW that would somehow make him beyond such a comparison?

first of all, i know a lot about this guy from his time at burnley and rangers. ignore his goal record - its not important because the role he plays does not conduct itself to great scoring ratios. if he gets 10+ in a season, that's decent. he's a foil to another striker, a type of robert rosario figure (for those who remember him).
the good news (and there is some) is that he does possess serious talent. the problems are greater though. he's never even got close to fulfilling his potential and his attitude on and off the pitch has been atrocious at times, leading to a slightly nomadic career, although i think any british player who tries his hand abroad should be given credit - not enough do so in my opinion. he certainly wouldn't be a player i'd like us to bring in. his style can look quite awkward, he often comes across as a total donkey, and i don't think our fans will take to him unless he rattles in a few goals early doors.
he can be total prick in games too but maybe, just maybe, we could do with one or two bastards on the pitch. it might sound ridiculous, especially if (as will definitely happen) he ends up banned for 5-10 games a season, but our team is too nice. since holty left, we've lacked someone to wind our opponents up. kyle lafferty isn't a player i'd have brought in to fulfil that role but equally i wouldn't rule it out as being completely stupid.

Robert, you quite impolitely wrote what you thought about supporters like myself, or what you believe me to be about (please find a post where I mention wanting a Deeney, Rhodes or McCormack btw). I returned that with my honest assessment of your posts. Again, 1950 had his say on my post, and I had mine on his.
OK, yes, it was a big exaggeration to suggest that you and all Norwich supporters either worship a new signing or decide he's dreadful. I apologise for that. I hope you don't feel this amounted to a personal attack, it was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek reference to the way we over-hyped RvW, whereas other signings (e.g. Elmander) were criticised from the off. Obviously I don't think you, or our entire fanbase, literally do this with every single signing.
I think this has to do with over-expectations (again). Many City fans still act as if we are in the PL.
should also add, i'd take lafferty ahead of becchio - much better footballer who would offer more to the team than the argentine. don't quite get the rvw comparison as they are completely different types of striker. it would be like comparing lineker to crouch

In all my years on 606 and not606 that is the first time I have been accused of that!! I do accept that I think twice before I tell somebody how to do a job that I have never done when they do it for a living but if it all goes wrong then everybody has the right to moan. When I saw that we were after Lafferty I did not have an orgasm with excitement but equally I was not dismayed. We already have RVW, Hooper, Grabban and Becchio and, even if one leaves, Lafferty is not going to be first choice. Who do you seriously suggest we could persuade to come here as 3rd, 4th or 5th choice striker? Logically, the signing of Lafferty indicates that one of the 4 others is on his way out but that still leaves him competing with Becchio and a couple of promising youngsters for a place on the bench. As Supers says he does give us a taller ' rough 'em up' option on the bench if we are playing a team that ' parks the bus '
I have always thought that 1950 very much 'says what he thinks/feels' and is NOT prone to 'towing the party/club line'!!! Totally agree that last season, there were several occasions when we could have utilised a player such as Lafferty to hold the ball up - RvW was never going to do it.
Let's just wait and see if there any substance behind the rumours.
