i won't apologise for my uncharacteristically pessimistic outlook at the moment because you have to understand that the decision taken to appoint neil adams this summer has made me extremely uneasy and i feel that we are stifling our chances of an immediate return to the top flight by going down this route. i have nothing against adams, i like him, i've met him a number of times - i just don't believe he has the capability to be a successful football manager at norwich city or any other club for that matter. people have formed opinions and elevated him based on our fa youth cup run and that unnerves me enormously. i'm not going to just happily post positive stuff if my head and heart don't truly believe in what i'm saying and it is my opinion that there were far more negatives handing adams the job than positives, so its natural to feel a bit down about our chances. although i'm a little happier now the early shaping of the back room staff are in place, i still can't get my head around the decision to appoint our lead man at this time. i'm sure its nothing that a couple of early wins won't calm.

Superman, this, and all, message boards are a forum to express opinions. You have yourself just done so with a negative feeling about NA. I hope you are wrong, but you have at least done so in a calm and reasonable manner. My personal take on Adams is that he is a strong character, and from his time on Canary Call, it is obvious he does not suffer fools lightly. He may very well surprise his doubters greatly.
rob, the term 'happy clapper' is probably the most infuriating i've ever been labelled. i'm an incredibly impatient person. that may surprise some as i seem to continually bang on about 'patience' but in many respects its me telling myself to remain patient should the situation require it. whether i'm happy, sad, content or frustrated, i'll post my honest thoughts and my honest assessment of the current situation is of disbelief and concern to the extent that i don't think we'll even challenge for the top six next season. that may change as the summer progresses - god i hope it changes - but that is my feeling right now and i'm not going to lie and say otherwise.
I think we'll get a reasonable opinion of how things are going to work out with NA in charge by the end of Aug.

I think we are all a bit nervous about how this season is to go, Supers, and you are right to express your concerns about Adams. I think what some of us are missing though, is your analysis of football issues, which, IMO, is always worth reading. None of us are sure about Adams, but he is the manager now and needs our support and that of a well chosen coaching team and Royle's experience as well. Adams isn't a Roeder, by himself in his office making all the decisions. The proof will be in the early team performances, not necessarily the results of a few games, as they don't necessarily reflect the performance.
as i've said, since his appointment i've mellowed slightly now he has added holt and royle to the mix, two sensible recruits. i will mellow further if i'm impressed with the technical director and head of recruitment, two vital roles within the club if this is going to work. at least there seems to have been a logic behind appointing adams as first team coach (which is effectively what he is, rather than manager) because there didn't seem much logic when the announcement was made. he'll have my full support the second the season kicks off, no question, but that doesn't mean i agree with the route the club have gone down and sadly i think it will end badly, and probably rather quickly too. it is absolutely essential we make a good start because the patience the fans showed last season will not be shown this term, i can assure you of that. a slow start and the whole thing will come crashing down.
I wonder if there may be a contract issue until 1 July or something that prevents the announcements being made. It does seem strange though.
A very good point - 1 July is a pretty key date in footballing circles. If we pass the 1 July and nothing happens, then I suppose we can ask questions.
