There's not many better alternatives ... let's not forget he was lauded for picking the squad that he did.
I've not got problems with his squad choice it's his tactics. Why the hell did he wait until 60 minutes to make a change? And how on earth did Welbeck stay on the pitch for 70 minutes? He took off Sterling before Welbeck for ****s sake.
This is actually not a bad england team its just that the tatics and individual errors have cost us, I personally believe that Roy has to go we should of done so much better and there are no excuses for that.

Add to that, the fact he didn't change anything, just the personnel. We were chasing the game and he took off our quickest most direct player for something similar and still left two holding midfielders on. That tells me he thought we were doing ok. We were so poor in the first half. Players like Rooney (who some portions of the media are saying did ok) were chasing their first touch - he's supposed to be our world class player. Too many times (particularly in the last 15 minutes) I saw Rooney with the ball by our defenders.... the manager should have told him to clear off upfront where he can do some damage.
Mmmm, so the tactics were wrong and the players made too many errors? That points to not good enough for me; we weren't and we aren't.
We took a back four to the World Cup that just is not good enough for that level. The two headed goals we conceded were appalling defending; school boy stuff; not even good goals. Just simple, basic "stay with your man" defending.
Exactly. But if he taken his other 2 clear chances no one would have been complaining. That's my main problem with Rooney - he's nowhere near clinical enough. He can run around where he wants AS LONG as he buries these chances.
That's why he doesn't take them... he runs around too much. You may not remember when Ruud Gullit first came to the UK.. he talked about English strikers who ran around in the wrong areas. The only place they need to be running around is in and around the penalty area; that is their job.
Suarez runs around when their is a chance of creating something. Other times he'll hang about.
I'd stick with Roy. He's a good manager but like so many before him he buckled to media pressure and went for the 'experienced' team. He needs to plan for 2018 with players who are currently in their teens or early twenties and stick with them for four years (I realise on that basis even Adam would not make the squad but so be it).
The problem is flt that we are stuck with the players we have and i personally believe that at this exact moment that was the best back 4 available so its not a case of taking a back 4 that arn't good enough, they are more than good enough, they made errors which they normally wouldn't get punished for, just so happened everytime they got out of position suarez was there waiting.
Glen Johnson is not the best right back available. Clyne is better, Chambers is arguably better, even Kyle Walker is better. The two CB's are probably the best available. Baines should be the best LB but he hasn't shone in either game.
Mourinho is tactically astute enough, particularly defensively to stop us conceding soft goals. Chelsea's shut out of Liverpool with a 2nd team was masterful and he did similarly with Real Madrid. He may not be keen. Brendan Rodgers is the best other option and possibly Roberto Martinez as there is no decent English manager at the moment.
The squad is good enough to get out of the group, so the manager has to take a lot of the blame. I'm not trying to make them scapegoats but the fact is we would have played a lot better without Gerrard or Rooney in the side. Hodgson was given credit for playing Sterling, even though it would have been braver not to, given the clamour for his selection, but a really brave call would have been to drop Gerrard and Rooney. If you're only going to play two midfielders against teams who are playing with three, you need them to be more mobile than Gerrard is now.
