You should get in early with the "He's not a useless idiot, he's OUR useless idiot" t-shirts mate, you might stand to make a fortune around November time
I can only assume Hockaday has been hired because Cellino wants a yes-man who will validate the manager inside of him and act as his human shield should things go wrong. Shocking appointment. I'll back him nonetheless, but I think I would've been happier with Gibbs and Redfearn.
I will give him my support and yes I will give him a chance, I haven't anything against the bloke, it isn't his fault he was offered the job. I am just worried about the lack of ambition shown by our new owner and worried that our new owner wasn't willing to pay £500k to secure Dolan. It must have cost him more than that to allow McD to leave early
I like him already - he sid YOU Leeds fans have to earn HIS respect Maybe you should throw him a few £20 notes to get a round in
I cannot understand those knocking the pessimism. This is a truly appalling choice for a head coach. Fills the fans and no doubt the players with no confidence that we will be challenging next season. I've loads of things to say but I now find myself lost for words... truly truly uninspiring. He may do okay, but right here right now, this appears to be the wrong appointment and I can see our season going very downhill as soon as it starts. So much for the excitement building towards a new season. Argee 100% with billy's post. Least we are gaining some friends from just about every club in England on here today! Welcome all and now p*ss off again
Brilliant appointment with a wealth of experience and his assistant Junior Lewis one of the most experienced assistants around not much good but plenty of experience
Good luck with this appointment but to get bums on seats (provides an income) I am surprised a higher profile manager wasn't appointed like Malky Mackay who has a proven track record at this level. Still what is done is done!!
Evening guys. Gotta say my first reaction was whhhoooooooo? What is becoming of your once mighty club?
I've said this a number of times. He's using the debts as an excuse imo. but he definitely knew about them, he can't be that silly. This appointment is a joke, can't remember ever seeing such a poor appointment at any club in the history of the game relative to club stature. Lets just say Hockaday has a hell of a lot to prove, really don't see any players jumping through hoops to sign for him though.
"Players start somewhere before they go to the big clubs and the coach? I don't know him, but I think he's a good coach." We ain't the only ones who'd never heard of him, ****ing hell every club in the league has a right to laugh at us, the things cellino is saying doesn't fill me with confidence either. The only thing that slightly helps me is the fact that Hockaday will not have anywhere near as big a say as previous managers have done. But then I don't like the idea of an owner deciding who we buy and I don't like the idea of Carbone contributing even more.
Hockaday is clearly a yes man and I would be amazed if he manages to extract an ounce of respect out of the players.
Been reading a few reports about him: Forest Green was Hockaday’s managerial debut and the team ended his first season in the relegation places, only to be saved by Salisbury City getting punished with demotion instead for financial irregularities. Another season of struggle followed before Ecotricity owner Dale Vince completed a takeover and supplied Hockaday with the division’s healthiest budget but after losing seven of eight games he was sacked. Some observers felt while he possessed big-name players at non-league level accusations were levelled that once they had their pay cheques performing on a Saturday came secondary. Mentality was the problem. Still, it was Hockaday’s responsibility to motivate. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...en-Rovers-boss-replacing-Brian-McDermott.html Based on this just how did Cellino find out about the guy and what made him think yes he is a good coach, really the more I think about it the more farcical it is...
Well apparently he's a football guy because they spoke about football for five hours when they first met. If that's the only criteria then my ten year old would be a shoe-in for the job he never ****ing shuts up
Hockawally obviously isn't such a wally - did his homework on Massivego and searched him out, dazzled him with 5 hours of football spin, and landed the poison chalice - the other bloke must be in dreamland too - coach in the Isthmian League to No 2 at Leeds - what the **** have you done?
Expect the unexpected-the meteoric rise of David Hockaday-is the leap from Leeds United to England actually narrower than FGR to leeds ? ' After one game in charge of Leeds United and their fortunate 1-0 win over North Ferriby United in a pre-season friendly, England appoint David Hockaday as their first team coach. An FA spokesman stated we have been following Dave for a number of years, and his mastery of 4-3-3, his constant encouragement to 'squeeze' ,' hold the ball' and' press' ;combined with the way he has a stopwatch strapped to his wrist meant on this occasion we knew there was no alternative with Dave's qualifications. There was a slight delay in the appointment after Dave's insistence that he takes Tommo and Justin Greenlight with him as his support staff, and in a further surprise appointment after holding out for more money,Jaceyboy was finally persuaded to join Dave as his water bottle carrier. Dave wanted Jaceyboy alongside him so he could avoid the knives going in his back. Meanwhile -back in Leeds, Mr Cellini was grateful for the FA's £10 million compensation package as he rode into the distance- (all part of the grand masterplan he sniggered and reassured Leeds supporters that he really is not that stupid ) most leeds supporters kept their own counsel on that That all given-good luck to the guy-you make your own opportunities so i actually wish him well HAHAHA http://forum.fgrfc.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=39511&start=120
