Still wondering why we never just kept running at their number 3 he had a yellow was lucky not to get a second one more mistimed tackle and he would have been off

To be honest I felt he was pretty lenient, we went in with a few heavy tackles that could have been punished too.

Actually I prefer it when Scotland make it to the World Cup finals (although obviously not had that pleasure for a long time now). While England's exit is (usually) a gallant one, Scotland's performances are on a par with the Keystone Cops. Ally MacLeods "World Cup Winners" getting stuffed by Peru and drawing with Iran in '78, Alan Hansen and Willie Miller somehow bashing into each other allowing the Soviets to score in '82 (and going out on goal difference!), failing to beat a Uruguay side reduced to 10 men after the 1st minute in '86 (0-0, their only point), losing 1-0 to World Cup debutantes Costa Rica in 1990 (yes, even if England lose to Costa Rica next Tuesday, Scotland will have beaten us to to this alarming humiliation by 24 years !) and getting stuffed (yep, totally stuffed) 3-0 by Morrocco in 1998. I think this is why Scotch people want England to fail so badly, to try and erase the memories of some of the most inept World Cup performances ever.

Humiliation, Wicksey is the keyword. Never happens to us (although it was once close with the Faroe Islands, I grant you!). We don't expect much. We sometimes excel ourselves, but usually it's a bit like supporting Leeds. Dour. We just enjoy ourselves as best we can, and have a right good bevvy whilst we're at it. It's probably a Celtic thing, as our Irish & Welsh chums take a similar view & are great company pre & post match when we are drawn together.

Humiliation for england? Happens a lot, doesn't it. Wonder why?
