No idea who this "plastic" is Breezy, but at least he'd have something tangible to talk about on the Cardiff board instead of the speculation and guesswork on this one. <ok>

Is he a Cardiff poster just wumming, or a Swansea poster being honest?

This thread is interesting from a pure football club perspective, but it's going around in circles and no one seems to be able to shed some light on the future Liberty setup. If you're now down to the costing/tender stage and SCFC are footing the entire bill, there must be something finite laid down about the future arrangements at the stadium. Why should SCFC stump up probably something like £10M for the project with no future return for themselves?

Surely there's someone amongst you lot with their finger on the pulse? What about your Trust member's representative - hasn't he got the inside track on what is happening?

Personally I don't think we need to expand. The stadium looks fine as it is and generates a great atmosphere........

No probs Breezy - plastic may be a complete wum for all I know, but the fact that he seems to agree with very few others on here doesn't necessarily make him wrong.

Some of you guys appear to want answers about your stadium, others maybe don't really care, but you deserve more than rubbish ruining a decent discussion thread like this.

I'll leave you to it and look in again for any info relevant to the thread subject. <ok>

No expansion will be built no matter what jinx says. he has been defeated every time the subject comes up and it will continue to be put on hold until the road and parking is resolved....that will take years and it don't mater one iota what the club says and its been saying the same thing for the last 4 years that the club is to start the first faze it has always been defeated by the residence of white rock....watch this space as they stop any expansion every single time...they cannot lose.....

Planning permission has been granted. For residents to stop it, any objections would need to be raised prior to that point. These objections are either upheld and permission is not granted or they are not. As planning permission has been granted any issues residents may have had or raised have been overcome. Once permission ius granted work must begin within 5 years or a reapplication is needed.

I would assume because The Swans benefit from the added revenue that the expansion would bring (seeing as the Ospreys wont benefit there was no incentive for them to help meet costs. As for the Council well, as they developed the retail park to fund the stadium in the first place and again wont directly see any financial benefit from extra attendances on matchdays that only left the club to finance it themselves). Whatever the reason the bottom line is the club are paying for it, feel that there is a benefit from it and are going ahead with it. As for the longterm arrangements of who actually owns the stadium I dont really think it matters. As long as the longterm future of the stadium is not at risk then it matters not. There is a 50yr lease in place of which the Swans pay peppercorn rent along with the Ospreys.

Thanks for that Bap - decent reply.

I was only asking because it's a sizeable investment (read somewhere about £15M in total being bandied about) for your club alone to foot with nothing tangible to gain other than the increased income stream from the larger attendances it could attract. As you say, the Ospreys clearly don't need it so wouldn't want to fund it, which leaves the Council with an improved balance sheet asset at no expense to them.

As you say ownership of a stadium means nothing other than probably three things. The first is just the bullshit of being able to actually say you own it which means bugger all in real life. Secondly, a share in, or outright ownership enables a club greater flexibility in deciding any future amendments to the ground you might wish to make. The third is probably the most important in that it provides a tangible asset on the club's balance sheet in return for your investment into the Council owned ground.

This initial phase of about 5,000 will be a huge benefit to the fans who currently miss out on seats, and I also read somewhere that you've got plans to take it up to about 32,000 seats. Don't know what that will cost in the end, but I'd have thought that something on the balance sheet for the club would be well in order for you to take it that far. Relying on future attendance money being the "pay-back" for that sort of investment is fraught with all sorts of dangers.

I see from Dai's posts he doesn't think it'll come off anyway. Can't see why not now that planning is in place, but there will always be somebody who'll want to put a block on things like this. Good luck anyway. <ok>

Breezy - maybe I just like talking to someone who wants to do just that, rather than others who just want to score brownie points on a thread that doesn't warrant it?

Bap - if I were a moose, I'd be worried by Breezy's attention. As it is, I'm not bothered by long range suitors. As for "your mate up the road" - do you really mean that?.....<laugh>

Please keep the thread on track guys - it could start to generate some discussion on the subject rather than turn into another inter-club ****fest again.

Anyone got any other ideas or info about your forthcoming stadium expansion?

Pretty poor response there Breezeblock - nothing to do with me being a mod, I have absolutely no influence on this forum whatsoever.

You're right about the football stuff - being in different divisions makes for less interaction and I won't be posting over here next season. This is a different subject though, and as my club is going through exactly the same thing right now that yours is proposing to do, it makes for an interesting discussion.

If you don't see it that way, fair enough, and if you don't want to contribute on the thread yourself, then that's fair enough too. Just don't mess it up for those that do. <ok>
