He's not my favourite player but

    http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...Sturridge-Bolton-loan-star-article751984.html

The Mirror are saying Stoke ready to offer £6M for him. Maybe we've been over-estimating what Chelsea will take for him. May be worth a cheeky £8-9M offer? If Chelsea see they're not getting big offers for him they may decide to take whats offered. I know this is the Mirror but can they have got it that badly wrong? If Pulis offers £6M, Bolton around the same then we offer a bit more Roman may decide to take the cash while he can.

Even though it is the mirror I think we should bid 10 million. Wouldn't want him going to Stoke.

surely Sturridge himself has ambition? I mean let's face it Stoke and Bolton are dog end clubs playing ****e football with **** all development prospects.
Imagine it.... 52,000 geordies or 10,000 Bolton fans and that annoying fat drummer bloke... mmmmm...

If hes available I think we should buy him for three reasons...

1.) He looks a top player.
2.) We can afford him and we SHOULD NOT let him go to another team if he is available.
3.) He fits our clubs ethos on age and hes potentially a World class player.

I really hope we get him. I watched him a couple of times last season and when we played at home against Bolton his movement off the ball was similar to Andy Coles back in the day but with more technical ability.

Wages might be a stumbling block but we could give him say a 5 year contract on £40-£50k a week with goalscoring bonuses as incentive!

Bolton play good football and they beat us 5-1 and he may want rejoin them if he had an enjoyable loan spell there.

Think he wants 1st team football more than anything else. Not sure about top player yet, only had half a decent season so far. As I said not my favourite player but does fit club ethos and does have potential.

I agree - I'd love it if we could get our hands on Sturridge. Powerful, pacey and knows how to finish. Think for £8-10m, he'd be bang on!!

Yer I would give him 9 also. I think hes class now and will get better in a good team with fans who like a good striker.

He did well at Bolton and they did hammer us. But we are a different team now and I think he would jump at the chance to come to st james over Bolton.

There was an article a few months back which dispelled the myth that bolton play good football. Their stats showed it was all long passes and tackles.

Reckon if we could have Erdinc, Sturridge and Ba, with Shola, McLoven as back up and the possibility of HBA playing up top if absolutely needed, I'd be happy!

If we can get him for anything up to £15 million I'd do it. Put it this way, if I'd heard on 1 February that we had let the long haired lad go for Sturridge plus £20 million, it would have been a much better day.

I think £15M is far too much for an a guy who's only scored 8-9 Premier League goals.

If Liverpool paid £35million for a guy who's scored 11 Premier League goals, then £15mill is a snip.

Big difference between what we're prepared to spend and what Liverpool are willing to throw away. The club aren't as stupid as Liverpool.

The lad has definately got goals in him and he's young to only improve.

The thing I like about him is that he is neither one or the other - he's not a light nippy striker nor a big target man. He's got a mixed bag - quick, powerful and good in the air, which means he should complement playing using Ba/Shola as the target man, or playing alongside a more lightweight striker ie Erdinc/McLoven!!

    £10-12m........done!
