Couple of days old now, but I missed it, and can't see much on here about it. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...stand-firm-over-chelsea-interest-2299988.html I always felt he may have been misquoted with dodgy questioning.
Ensil posted this as a comment on a previous Luka article. Still, its quite good that you posted a topic for it as it highlights it a bit more. Good news in my book.
Pfft, old news! I've always been confident that Modric will stay but it'd be nice for him to come out and confirm it when he gets back from his holidays.
Funny how a few days can be a long time in football. Just below this Indi article is a link to another of their articles, entitled - "Porto deny that Vilas Boas is going to Chelsea"
What the hell has it got to do with Kia Joorabchian? That dodgy arsehole should've been banned from having anything to do with English football years ago, after the whole Tevez & Mascherano thing.
Hi Smart....well, Luka may be staying, but we seem to be close to shifting 4 MFs....Jo'H, JJ, WP and Niko...so does that mean talks with Scottie are advanced? Surely we will need to replace them with TWO tough tacklers/work-horses, to help Modders out in the middle of the park...
If Parker were the only midfield signing and all four of those listed left, then we'd still have the following midfielders. ----- van der Vaart Bale Modric Sandro Lennon ------------- Pienaar Townsend Huddlestone Parker Bentley Bostock, Livermore, Dos Santos, M'Poku, Carroll, Parrett. I'd suggest that we probably need to move Bentley and Dos Santos on too and bring in replacements for them, but even that might not be necessary. We're overloaded with midfielders.
Can't wait for the press to get it because each time we get our players to a reasonable standard they start tapping up our players for man u, chelsea etc. Just shows how much they hate us can't they be any more obvious?
Fair enough, PNP, but I'm really referring to 'ball-winning'/ground -covering MFs...Bale, Lennon, VdV, pinnar, townsend, bentley, dos santos, of first teamers, do not fall into this category. that just leaves Huddlestone and Sandro as experienced CMFs....and perhaps Livermore for lesser matches. thus I maintain that we still need parker and one other of his type. What we need to do, clearly, is to get rid of some of these 'wingers' we're hoarding....
My take is that with Parker, Sandro and Hudd, we would have 3 DM types, plus there's a youngster ( not taking a 25 spot) incase of double injury etc eg. Livermore...more than enough. ...drop the rest off a cliff!
I must admit that I like the idea of having Modric, Sandro, Parker and Huddlestone as our squad of central midfielders. I think that any pairing should work, it gives us good depth and a fair amount of versatility, too. Other areas of our team need a little work, though.
qite so Lads, but I think Harry will want one more CMF....and some strikers!! Will he have the bottle to clear out 2-3 strikers, and 2-3 'wingers'?
I don't think that we need Parker. He stood out in a mediocre team of no hopers and he did not impress me in his England appearance. A much better buy woud be Seamus Coleman from Everton. He looks like he will become a much sought after player, as he get more experience.
Coleman's a right-sided player though, not a central-midfielder. He's either a right-back or -winger. A bargain for £150k, though.
Coleman started as a central midfielder but he is still considered as a defender by Everton. From what I have seen I think he would be very successful as a CM
