Leon is the heartbeat of the team and leads by example on the pitch, whereas Chico is embarrassing with his cheating at times and a liability at other times.
Leon can be very forceful when he wants, I have seen him many times shouting instructions to his midfield partners..dont let his size fool you..
Who has said anything about size? Who has said anything about him not being the heartbeat of the team? The impression I get is that Leon's quietly spoken and not forceful enough but obviously I don't know him personally whereas Monk does. As a senior professional you'd expect him to be shouting out to his less experienced colleagues but that doesn't necessarily make him a good captain. If he gets the captaincy if and when Ash goes then I'll be happy with that because it means Monk has confidence in his abiity to do the job. These were only my observations after all and not intended as a criticism.
I think we have seen the last of bony in a swans shirt, there are too many big sides willing to pay £25m+ for his signature...
I can't see Rangel or Leon being automatic choices next year, so of the players left in the squad I would opt for Chico. He seems a natural leader to me and I would pick him as captain even if Ash stays.
Would you want somebody who dives and rolls around on the floor like a prized twat as our captain? I sure as hell don't.
JackoffsIQof22's neurosurgeon when rooting around inside his cranium and finding nothing ! Seriously though , Chico ? Love his passion , Love his fight , hate the histrionics and if he loses it who, if he is Captain, will have the authority to tell him to cool it ? And that is of course if he stays ......
The point several of us are trying to make is that he might well cut out all of that stuff if he was the team captain. Then again, he might not.....
I think Leon has to be the natural choice, I do not see any leadership qualities in any other player we have, perhaps Michu if he gets a bit of luck with his injury!...............
Not Michu for me . The way he squares up to other players and screams at them has me cringing on times . He's too much of a hothead .
You could be right Dai, although it would have to be a big player to come into an established squad and immediatelty be made captain.
Same question arises in my mind .... can Rangel command the RB spot on a regular basis. Both Leon and Rangel are a year older, on the wrong side of peak. Rangel in particular, never a speed merchant, is not getting any faster. Ideally, we should have players in the squad looking to push and displace both of these players. They would both make good captains, but can they command a place in the team on a regular basis. Same also goes for Ash, he's on the wrong side of peak and a season older. Amat et al and others should be pushing to displace him.
