1 year left on contract I believe. Absolute bargain for Sunderland, only question mark is his fitness. If that doesn't let him down he'll spend the rest of his career at PL level. I've said a few times he was the one I was absolutely certain would be snapped up. Good luck Jordan
Agree about his skill - probably the most gifted player at the club taking over that mantle from Whitts, but he's not without his problems. As mentioned, his fitness always seemed an issue and he had a number of poor games as a result. Fit and on form, he was the sort of player that can win a game from nothing. We all remember the winner at Fulham, but that left foot shot could easily have gone the other side of the post and we'd have never heard of it since. It may have been the injury/fitness problems, but he sometimes seemed a bit pedestrian around the pitch when he was off his game - on form, he's a class act and worth far more than that ridiculous fee mentioned. We paid around £1M to take him from Birmingham a couple of years back. On that basis and after his exposure in the Prem last season, I'd have thought more like 4 or 5 mill would have been the mark at his age even with only a year left on his contract. For just £1.5M, Sunderland have got a steal if this goes through. He clearly wants to stay in the Prem, so perhaps it's for the best. I'd prefer it if we got someone to replace him who'll give everything for the club in the Championship rather than someone who could be unhappy of the fact that they're there and not in the Prem.
That is the key to avoiding that PL hangover some relegated clubs seem to have imo. It's why I hope self appointed 'too good for the championship' FC leaves too. I think Noone having almost not had a pro career has the right attitude and will be an asset even if we turn down offers for him.
Well I did notice the Mail article said that Sunderland had agreed the deal - it didn't mention that Cardiff had though.
Stiil likely to happen though. The Sunderland fans were talking about it a week or so ago. We paid just over £1m for him and only 12 months to go on his contract. Sill only 22 so in real terms probably worth more than that although his fitness record might go against him. Perhaps a wider deal depending on appearances etc? However, before the Jacks start having a pop, Ashley Williams to QPR for £4m? I could understand it if he had ambitions to play for a bigger club but QPR ffs????
He's probably got ambitions to play for a bigger pay packet, not necessarily club. Also a year only left on his contract so something was likely to happen. If QPR were really ambitious, they should have had a go for Caulker.
its a pathetically low fee if true, so low that i'd keep him for a year and hope he helps get us up, then if we do we'd have a good chance of keeping him. i'd only sell at £4m+ and thats only if we could buy in a good replacement.
£400,000 more like; totally overrated and this is shown when he flops for Wales with worse CB's than him. If ever there was a player who was made to look good due to his better CB partner then I have not seen him.
Perhaps they did and we told them to sod off. QPR also after Dawson from Spurs. They nearly got him a year ago. I agree Mutch is worth much more but if he wants to go then as Sparks and Steve have said perhaps it is worth moving him on early so there is no acrimony or ill feeling in the changing room, we get the money in and actively seek a replacement although I suspect Guido was signed with this move in mind.
I agree with Swamp as well though that if he isn't determined to move then it's next worth writing off the £1.5m to keep him for a season. Even if he left on a free afterwards our chances of bouncing back are improved if he's in our squad and happy. He'll also be able to negotiate a bumper pay packet when he's on a free. I suppose the flip side is a year out injured and he could be struggling to get back to the PL if we don't take him there so you can't blame him for striking whilst the iron is hot!

Manager Solskjaer has the full backing of the Bluebirds board and chairman Mehmet Dalman said: “We have not received any bids for Jordon and he is in our manager’s plans for next season. “Jordon is a Cardiff City player and that will not change.” Mutch was Cardiff’s top Premier League scorer with seven goals last season and there is little doubt Sunderland manager Gus Poyet is keen on the powerful midfield player. Poyet may yet make an offer for Mutch, but national newspaper reports that City have accepted a £1.5m offer were branded ‘totally wrong’ by Dalman.
