Good Morning Everyone, Could today be the day that the muck really hits the fan? The players report back to Elland Road, a month earlier than most other clubs. Why, I ask to hear??? Its a week of intensive training. (I do a little sorry for Kenny) I wonder when McDermott knew his number was up? Could it have been the first time he was sacked? Maybe it was last month when all communication from Cellino was in writing? Perhaps McDermott had enough and pulled the plug himself? Luke Dowling has down down the job as Sporting Director at Elland Road. Dowling is currently at Leeds United and is working in consultancy and advisory capacity for the over a year. Dowling was recruitment director at Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth before coming to Leeds. Who would you like to see as head Coach / Manager, and why?
I wonder whether disciplinary measures will take place for anyone who under performs in the training week.
Morning Elland and all. Bank holiday here today. Wouldn't mind being a fly on the wall at Elland road today. I've a feeling players will be introduced to a very new regime, maybe reviewed contracts and will be told to put up or ship out. Couldn't care less as they are all replaceable. One thing is for sure, we won't be short of material to discuss in the close season.
England team leaving for the World Cup. Rooney doesn't look fit to me please log in to view this image
Good Morrow from a sunny BardseyI have a feeling that a mutual agreement will be made over the following players Kenny Norris Hunt White Poleon they will be told to look for another club with Hunt encouraged to do it at once Ross I feel will go now so this will give us some well needed money for strenghtening
If we're losing McCormack, can we just get on with it. I've been holding back my ST renewal and if he goes (as is expected) I won't be renewing. While i understand McDermott being sacked, i've an awful feeling in a couple of months time we'll be wishing we had him back. Lets hope i'm wrong eh.
Morning all personally I am bored of it all. I am still waiting for the negative press releases and stories to end and some positives to start emerging déjà vu?
Just wishful thinking there I think mate The money from Ross will probably go towards off-setting some of the issues, so won't see any of it. I do however expect to see faces leaving in a bigger way than we've seen in the past and new faces coming in. Not sure the new faces will be the quality we would hope for as most will be unknown to us, but they could be great all the same ..... or dire. Those faces still under contract will need to be negotiated with and the money from Ross will be used here I guess. It's like waiting to go under the surgeons knife and we just want it to be over so we can get on with life again. I expect that after today most of the squad will be back on holiday as today is all about laying out the new ground rules. Cellino doesn't want to upset theplayers union already.
Oh and by the way I think that Billy does himself and his organisation no good just slagging Cellino off all the time. Why take a dislike to him before we see what is going to happen. Why fall in love with GFH and Haigh and tell us how great they were going to be for the fans, when the reality was that they were worse than useless and more bent than Bates and indeed still in bed with the ****. LUST is all about fans and the relationship with the club, so why attack the guy already is beyond me. Yes kick his arse if we see us in trouble financially or on the pitch, but we are not party to all the crap being left so give him a break until you have something concrete
Im same as you Ristac, totally naffed off with all of it, we have not been stable for the last 5 seasons and other clubs would have lost there fan base a long time ago, is that the case with the Leeds faithful....NO, so i think they should start repaying back the faith in effort and commitment, if some of them dont like the early return, then i have the same view as Eireleeds1 gtf out, as they all can be replaced, and none of them are spectacular, well not in my books anyway. One other thing i would like to run past you is, why should a spaghetti muncher who lives in the USA buy into a club thats lost its direction!! make a fast buck? wreck the club, i dont know can someone enlighten me!!
Morning all, Apart from having no choice in the matter, we need to give Cellino a chance to sort the club out. The reality is none of us know how it's going to pan out between now and the season start. He's certainly not here to wreck the club. He may well end up doing so, but on the other hand it could all work out hunky dory. Far too early to judge him.
I suspect his reasoning in buying Leeds is our potential. After 20 odd years at Cagliari, he probably felt he could take them no further. The English PL however is attainable with Leeds and the finances and TV exposure that brings, probably appealed to his ego. Of course, the other reason could be he is barking mad. BTW nice to see an air of common sense this morning, refreshing Id say
Lets face it he has cut his teeth running a club so he knows the pitfalls and he his is own man so I say after the cancer of Bates and the incompetence of the past owners give the man a chance I like how he has tackled things so far trying to flush out BATES
Providing we're not relegated, I couldn't care less where we finish this season. Lower-mid table would be fine by me. Until the financial side of the club is fixed, we're not going anywhere, so we may as well resign ourselves to the fact this season will be a write-off on the playing side of things, but hopefully this time next year we'll be in a good financial position and we'll have the clout to have a real go next year
point taken Eire over the tv rights, but i think you may have seen previously we were on live last season out here a dozen times, plus every PL game is on live out here.
I must have missed LUST slagging off Cellino, Doc. Can you give me a link - or links if there was more than one occasion?
I believe we needed Cellino, we were going to go into admin under GFH and I also suspect Bates would have been one of those waiting to pounce and 'save us'. All these other so called interested parties were all hot air, not one of them put their money where their mouth was, it was Cellino or broke as far as I am concerned. I expect a rough ride with Cellino and hopefully a no nonsense approach, I fully expect to question some of his decisions and I am hoping there are a few I fully agree with. He has money but he hasn't a bottomless pit so I can understand why he wants to make us able to stand on our own two feet and that is a good thing. He likes expensive toys, I believe we are his latest hobby, it is also an ego thing, just look at his approach "I manage the club and buy the players, I just want a coach to coach them" also remember how he likes to take credit when things go right, the day McD wore a tracksuit just one example. He just wants to say he owns a football club with the potential (with a return to the Premier League) to make a lot of money. I don't doubt for a minute there are a few other advantages owning us that will border on shady. I also agree if the players don't like coming in early then bugger off, everyone of them is replaceable, two season on the trot of finishing below mid table and two seasons of poor results getting hammered and embarrassed at times shows that they are a bunch of average players. I also agree with Leeds60 at least he is an experienced owner. I am in the give him a chance camp but I am not going to be blind and believe he is totally good for the club and this isn't a dig at anyone or suggesting anyone else is blinded by his actions. So far I can't say I am totally impressed with him, I see the danger signs and the signals coming out preparing us for an excuse as to why he can't and hasn't brought back T/A and ER I just hope I am wrong.
