The club has been given notice that John-Joe O’Toole has activated the release cause in his contract. The midfielder will now be seeking employment with another club. The Irishman was Bristol Rovers’ top goal-scorer last season, after joining the club on a permanent basis last summer. Everyone at the club would like to wish John-Joe well in the future.
Ah well doesn't bother me in the slightest frees up a lot on the wage bill I never rated him anyway didn't see what all the fuss is about he might of been are top goal scorer last season but we still went down so even without them we would still be in the same place I can't believe some fans seen him as a Jesus type figure what fricking arse holes
pleased about this shame he left how he left though. with time left on his contract, we could have got something for him. i know we wouldnt have got a fee but we would have lost out on a sell on clause and other add ons if we would have agreed a transfer with another club. shame. but overall im please he is nowhere near our club now. thats 1 bad apple gone. 2 more left.
You could see why he wasn't wanted by Colchester even though he started like a train for us. He's not much of a team player. If he had the right attitude he would have been captain, but you could see something was missing. Good luck to him anyway. He's certainly got a big opinion of himself so lets see if he gets anywhere near where he thinks he should be. Next stop Accrington Stanley I expect...
He wasn't popular at ColU, obviously there was a problem with his attitude both on and off the pitch, but when he wanted to could be a match winner, probably thinks he is better than he really is. Get his head right and he could play in the championship, wonder if Norwich are Interested ?.
Not mind I wanted the money spent else where we could of brought to players for his wages maybe he will come to you now
Promised much and could've been great, but poor attitude and not a team player. All the best JJOT, but I don't think we'll miss you!
not mine. the last few games before his loan spell ended showed how poor he was. the stuff he came out with before he signed showed his poor attitude. he took so long to sign for us that for weeks a lot of was wanted ward to move on and forget o'toole. also knew his wages be very high, too high. after august nearly every match thread for away game you will see me moan about him getting stupid yellows or moaning with the ref. very frustrating to watch. i constantly moaned about his attitude in any interviews. said many times about wanting to be with better players which wouldnt make him popular in the dressing room.
I wonder of JJOT will honour his statement of a few months ago when he said that the team should hang up their boots if we get relegated?
Just now JJOT took to twitter to say the following.... https://twitter.com/johnjoeotoole/status/472828001131196416
Who the hell allowed a relegation release clause to be put into his contract? and why would a player have this when he was expecting promotion?
we must have accepted the clause because "relegation was not an option", so what was there to worry about (in the mind of the board) signed a 3 year deal. player may have wanted the relegation clause if we went up and then straight back down again within the 3 year period if that makes sense
But that will take at least 2 seasons and then he would be a free agent the following season. Its still a negative thing to have in place when signing for a club giving you a chance
that would be the manager. the chairman agrees a max limit for the wage per week then lets the manager get on with the deal. once terms been agreed its then down to the chairman to ratify it, so i been told by a club official
Bloody hell. Been away for 4 days and see this. Shows how much power players have in this day and age. Whilst he has triggered a release clause in his contract and he is only one year into a 3 year deal surely that means there must be a minimum release clause that has to be met too?
