Don Revie

10th July 1927 - 26th May 1989

Yesterday marked the 25th anniversary of the passing of Don Revie.

Revie, as you will all know was our greatest Manager of all time leading us to both European and domestic glory.

Unfortunately in his later life, Don was diagnosed with Motor Neurone disease, and died a few years later, aged just 61.

I understand we can't live in the past, or become reliant on living on past glories, but shouldn't the club do something to celebrate the life of arguably the best Manager we ever had?

David Haigh's case for financial irregularities has been referred to Dubai’s public prosecutor for trial. "The company discovered the legal irregularities committed by Haigh when it conducted its annual internal accounting audit," a Dubai police statement to the United Arab Emirates’ state news agency WAM said.

With respect, if Haigh had done it, he would not be stupid enough to travel back to Dubai, looking for another job with his former employers!

Something is not right here!!!

Good Morning Matt from a very wet Bardsey yes the sun doesn,t always shine on the righteous
Haigh when you play with fire you sometimes get burned there is obviously some dirty deeds afoot
Revie was probably the best club manager ever because he did it on a shoe string.International manager not very good I think if he had a fault he probably got too greedy leaving the way he did running off to UAE for Arab gold
What is going to happen to our present incumbent I feel he should make way for someone else this is not like me as I prefer stability but BM doesn't seem up to the job his signings say it all really I'M sure he has made a big mistake signing Stewart Hunt where he has left himself wide open employing his best mate on some exhorbitant wage per week .In the old days we called it jobs for the boys but surely MC has grounds in this instance to sack him!

Morning Mike, hah, its Sunny in Southampton!!!

McDermott has made many more mistakes in the transfer market than positive ones. Stewart and Hunt only being a few. Time to bring the young ones in. Is Cook too inexperienced to enter the first team squad this season?

Not seen the boy play nor Charlie Taylor but I'M all for giving the young ones a chance .Thanks for your reply by the way MIKE

No problem.

Was Taylor the lad we signed from Everton a few seasons ago, who was destined for great things, or was that Zac Thompson?

Morning all from a wet Wakefield.

Elland that was Thompson.

To be honest I can't mention about Revie. A little too young to remember his time at the club.

Morning All,

Unusual for a Jock to pick up on this, Doha, but isn't it fair to say that Ramsey was your best ever international manager? The Don had a method that worked at Leeds, but from what I've read, he never got the players behind him with england. Just sayin' ...

If found guilty, he will get a 20 year stretch for that amount - but under Dubai law he will be released as soon as the debt has been repaid - do you want to have a whip-round for him? Maybe Cellino will pay it off if he promises to cancel the winding up order!!

Morning all from sunny spain, manegable 25c here. <ok>
If BMc is here next year can't really see the young uns been given much of a chance.

I doubt he will pick the team if he is here. Cellino will do that i suspect as he has already hinted McD has been playing the lads in the wrong positions.
