    My bad!

A Liverpool fan on Twitter was saying how it was weird that Spurs were appointing a manager that hadn't won anything. I couldn't be bothered to point out the irony there....

I'll give you credit. He does look sharp in a suit.

In terms of the job (with us), we have gone down the route of managers viewed as the next great thing, from Gross to Ramos, to Avb. Now Pochettino. After a while you fail to gain excitement from managers who are employed on the basis of being the next great thing, especially when they have to work under unrealistic expectations. They just aren't a good fit with us.

I expect Pochettino to be a failure, but that doesn't mean I won't get behind him and hope he is a success as I have no reason to dislike the guy.

<laugh> "Let's all laugh at MoPo!"

Nah, doubt it. We can dream though.

Why are people criticizing the board? They offered him anew contract, they can't physically force him to sign and stay.

Not so sure....Spurs and their fans like their chairman have very high expectations way above their station.

They finished 6th this season, which to be honest is where they should finish at best. They are not in the same league as your Arsenal's, Chelsea, City, Liverpool and United.
Mopo will have to hit the ground running, won't be afforded the luxury of a dodgy December like he did with us. Love his style of play but don't believe you can maintain that intensity and fitness in the PL over a season.

It will be quite funny if Spurs struggle again next season. Pochettino will certainly get no sympathy from me if he ****s up.

"If Pochettino is speaking to Spurs it's because he wants to - board's biggest mistake is not confirming publicly they've offered him deal"

Spurs just aren't a big enough club to attract established top class managers. Your best bet is getting someone on the way up and hoping they can maintain their trajectory.

That does seem an odd choice, though what practical difference it would make is slightly beyond me.

I'm not sure many have really been criticizing, just guessing as to why MP is going, lack of investment, letting players go, etc, etc. It is a tough time for them and they do need to show their colours and strengths over the next few weeks to let the fans know, they know what they are doing.

Correct and a point I have made myself but that doesn't mean we offer them the best condition's to work under, which is why it isn't a good fit, mainly because of the unrealistic expectations.

If we appoint a Tuchel or a Yakin, along with a clear investment strategy that has some (even if not Cortese levels) ambition, then hell, we can get excited again. Swings and roundabouts.....

Given those expectations, it's surprising that Levy has been getting away with setting them for so long without more pressure coming onto himself.

I know you've been on this thread for a while and I respect your opinion and reasons for it, but I do think Spurs fans and fans of all clubs to a certain degree need a reality check as their are questions marks on all appointments.

Some coaches don't have the experience, but more experienced coaches are likely to have blots on their CVs. If I was a Spurs fan then I would be excited that I was getting a forward thinking coach, widely praised and with premier league experience who was on the way up and not getting a coach who had failed at a bigger club like Chelsea

I did say I heard he was offered a new 3 year contract before the end of the season. As Blackmore said the board ****ed up by not making it public.

Again, it seems an odd choice, but what difference would it have made?

That's the one question I've been asking myself over the last few weeks. Does Levy answer only to the owner? How many more times he get it wrong?
