to answer my own question, they just extended their sponsorship deal for three years for 16m in total. not great.

Don't agree with that argument. If we were after a well paid job and we were second choice, we would be thrilled to get a stab at it. It might knock your confidence a little, but you'd be out to prove them wrong and show you are worthy. I bet a lot of managerial jobs go to second or even third choices.

I'm not as devastated as I was when Nigel left, because he had done so much for us and I felt he hadn't been given long enough. Although I have loved watching Saints under Mauricio, I will be more angry with him than sad if he leaves.
