Just read this from article by Michael Bailey and IMO, he talks a lot of sense - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/column...he_inspiration_back_at_norwich_city_1_3615036.
Supers, you have previously said that, and I quote "I wouldn't want Adams anywhere near the first team", what are your feelings now ? Personally, for all his inexperience, I think that he will put his heart and soul into the job and well, you never know it may well turn out to be an inspired appointment and we will all have to eat humble pie. You can see that he's desperate to do well and that he really cares for the club and it's fans, I for one will now get wholeheartedly behind him and if he does succeed it couldn't happen to a more deserving bloke. OTBC ... CTI ... INWT
well i now don't have any choice! i probably exaggerated a little - i wouldn't have wanted him as manager was my main concern and i still don't want him as manager but that's where we're at. first team coach, even assistant to someone experienced and i'd have been happier. as you say, it could prove to be inspired. we'll just have to wait and see but i am very disappointed at the way the board has handled it, even though i can now, in the cold light of day, see more rationally why they came to their decision. to me it smacks of taking an unnecessary risk and at a time where as a club we have both the financial clout and squad in place to bounce straight back up, i was hoping and expecting for a manager to come in who would stamp their authority not only on the squad, but also on the division, on our rivals to be next season, to make them all sit up and say 'yeah, norwich are going to be a serious threat'. now they are saying 'they are there for the taking'. and then we had the kerfuffle with steve foley possibly returning, not to mention the technical director/director of football positions we keep hearing about. we don't know what's going on! its a terrible start and when you are this chaotic and amateurish, even in close season, it normally only leads to trouble. if we don't win our first game or at least make a good start in the opening five games, i think there'll be massive, massive problems at this club. lets hope he hits the ground running
I'm not at all surprised KIO, as we agreed a few months ago, we only fall out because we're passionate about our club, just that sometimes we look at a different route of progress!
I agree the matches between the start of the season and the end of Sep could very well define our season. I'm now keen to know who is going to be appointed as 'technical director' and just hope that we're not kept waiting too long for that announcement.
It's not the fact that Adams was given the job - it was the totally amateurish way it was done. Adams may prove to be 24-carat gold, who knows? But if you're going to take a big risk and go for an inexperienced candidate, do it boldly and with panache. It doesn't help Adams that he gets the job as second or perhaps even third choice, and I know that, you know that, he knows that, the players know that, the fans know that (I'm aware that DM said no one else was offered the job and, while that may LITERALLY be true, I'm sure we all believe this was a bit of legalistic distortion of the truth on the part of DM). Best of luck to Adams, but the Board are a shambles.
