Also Hooper was the highest scorer of our misfiring front line. Don't see why any would want rid of him, looked like the only one capable of finding space and making chances a lot of times last season. I've been very impressed with his first touch, seemed to always open up a few yards for himself, shame there was never anyone for him to pass to!
hooper, above all else, absolutely has to stay if we are to have any chance of promotion. the guy guarantees goals at this level. if we sell him this summer i will be furious. it is a worry though that adams didn't play him.
As I saw it, it was more of a horses for courses thing as opposed to him not actually fancying him. Only he knows. We've got to keep him. QPR were desperate to get him, and went for Charlie Austin and a second choice. He didn't do too badly did he and I think Hooper is as good, if not better, than Austin.
We've got money if we start selling I'm hoping Norwich fan's aren't blind towards Aunty Delia's propaganda, however most do seem to think the worlds some idyllic twee dreamland. If they sell Hooper I'm going to start a fund to hire a hitman. Adams seems to prefer a bigger type forward hence why he played Elmander so much and Carlton Morris for the youth team.
I know some fans will be against this, but I think Adams might (MIGHT) go in for Holt. Yes, he was **** last season, but as a result he's got to go somewhere, and, if we go in for him, we'll be by far the best option for him in footballing terms. I'm not suggesting he start every game, but to get some leadership and personality back in the squad is vital. It'd also create some positivity amongst the fans as well. May not work out, and many of you may not want it, but I'd be doing laps of the street if he came back.
I don't think it would work out with Holt again, if he was a couple of years younger I'd be tempted. I agree with what you say about leadership though if we had a decent captain we might of picked up a few more points, Russell Martin is not a leader he might be a character but there were times he done absolutely nothing and we collapsed, I just don't think he is powerful enough.
We definitely missed a leader last season. The reason we collapsed after going a goal down so many times is because there was no one on the pitch to galvanise his troops. Had Holt stayed, we would have stayed up, I'm certain of it. Failing to replace him properly in terms of captaincy was another clanger from Hughton.
Completely disagree with you on this one, Hucks. Holt's the past. And there is too much clinging to the past at City. Let's have ex-players as managers. Let's have ex-players as coaches. Let's bring back Holt, Chris Martin, Shackell, Lansbury, Pacheco - anyway who has any kind of past link to the club. It is so insular. We need someone new to sweep in and change all this. McNally looked like he was this person for a while but now there are signs he may have become part of the problem, not the solution, just someone else who sits on his hands and enjoys quaffing a fine red with Delia and being little old Norwich.
vc - TOTALLY agree with you on this. As you quite rightly say, DM has gone from 'breathing new life' into CR to having been brain washed by Delia and co. I'm inclined to believe rumours that he wanted CH sacked after our dismal performance on Boxing Day against Fulham, but was 'persuaded' by other Board members that he was a 'nice man' and could turn our fortunes around. Look where that fateful decision got us!!!! I'm HOPING that NA and the other members of the new management structure can see us returning to playing football which can - a. Appease and unite the fans, as well as having the noise returning to CR on match days by playing 'attractive attacking football'; whilst at the same time realising that we have to focus on defending as well. b. A return to winning more games than we lose, especially away.
It's not worth believing every rumour about our club. I've no doubt that McNally is the consummate professional and absolutely the right man for the job. However, when your boss pulls rank, you do what they say.
