I have never been one of the anti-QPR brigade on here but I am beginning to understand why so many of you do. Post anything on their board, other than to say well done or anything totally positive about them - you are by default a wum This does not apply to all of them of course and there are some that you can chat to, but there seems to be a disproportionately high number among their ranks who see no merit in anything not wearing blue and white hoops, and they wonder why so many other fans don't like them anymore You have to ask why there is such a vast chip on the shoulders of these people.
There was a time when QPR were quite widely viewed as a decent family/friendly club, playing good football but not many really bothered much about them, they were just there and doing pretty well in the top flight. It's really only the internet that has exposed the fan base for what it is today.
Doesn't help that they went about their last campaigns in the Prem in the worst way and still got relegated. Since then their fans have had an air of arrogance that is ridiculous because they have little reason to be arrogant, other than they have a wealthy backer.
.....and 'ain't that the truth!!!!' You forgot ALL the 'wct' they bought that would keep them in the PL and 'challenging for Europe'
Exactly. They got too big for their boots and now it's just ridiculous! They scrape back into the Prem with probably the biggest budget in the Championship and next year they'll be all smug again! All they seem to do now is buy in over priced, big money names then play in a turgid style, hoping one of their more talented players (Austin) can score a goal. I think if they hadn't bought him they would have been outside the Playoffs, they almost slipped out while he was injured.
I have no issues with QPR but with every club you will get good and bad interactions. Is it to all clubs or just us? If some elements of QPR fans have issues with Norwich it will stem back to them wining the Championship when we went up with them where there was some issues with a possible ineligible player. Some of the games between us were also a bit spicy and I used to love how Grant Holt used to have a right old battle with Clint Hill. Banter around that time was a bit lively I seem to remember.
To be honest you can say exactly the same thing about our club. Some of the stuff I've read on here in the past year or so to was our previous manager, and even this past week after recent events aimed at our CEO and owners (who have done so, so much for out club over the years) has been pretty venomous and with it appalling if you ask me. I'm often ashamed to be a football fan when I read some of the mindless ignorance on here from people who think they know what they are on about, but in fact don't actually know their arse from their elbow. Many times I've thought about jacking this forum in because some of the stuff winds me up so much, but when I weight it up against some of the top banter and debate that makes up the majority of the input then I realise why I stick around. I thought this thread was going to be about some of our own fans, have to say I'm slightly disappointed that it wasn't.
I think we have been tied a bit tighter to QPR since getting promoted but in a negative way. The whole ineligible player thing in 2011 set the tone but then the way they went about the Prem seasons, with us and Swans stepping on with mostly the same squad and not spending much but them being kind of awful the whole time and just generally unlikeable. Add to that Warnock being their manager and now Harry (Who splits opinions) and the way their fans act, I just think they come across as a pretty unpleasant team.
