I said this morning I would try and write a positive piece about the appointment of Neil Adams so having had all day to think about it here goes!

1. Having already been in charge of the squad for 6 weeks, he should be ahead of any outsider in terms of knowing what we need to do this summer.

2. He has vowed to play attacking football.

3. His best tactical performance ironically came in a game where we were defensively excellent so maybe he has that string to his bow.

4. He has won a trophy as a manager, albeit at youth level.

5. If he does a good job and we win promotion we could all bring inflatable bananas to the final game.

So there are a few positives to be found. Obviously there are lots of negatives too but I’m willing to bet that had Malky Mackay, the outstanding candidate for the job been appointed, then a fair number of fans would have said its the end of the world and forums would be in meltdown right now.

So let’s all make a vow ourselves, that we’ll give the guy a chance and see how he does. It's horribly risky and I’m far from convinced that this is the right avenue to proceed down, as are many others, so go out there Neil, do a great job, and make us look like fools <ok>

Agreed, none of my frustration is directed at him and nor should he take the brunt of any ****e being thrown. I think he could do well

This is a discussion forum. He has to earn his chance, my fury is firmly aimed at the board.

I said before this started that I'd accept the Board's decision and I am (after my initial amazement). I actually think we have a good Board which acts professionally, not on the whims of a rich owner. This may turn out badly, but until it does I will give my full support to Adams, the players and the Club.

He's got my full support, but that doesn't mean I'll back him blindly. I can accept a slow start as long as there's some positives in how we play. Top half by christmas, with a better style of football and I'll be happy. If we're really struggling and/or the football is dire, then I won't be too impressed. By anger/disappointment would more be aimed at the board for appointing him too soon into his managerial career though, and wasting an opportunity to bounce back, rather than at the man himself

I think acting on the whims of a rich owner is EXACTLY what we are doing.

Why? because the decision makes no sense whatsoever other than he's Delia's mate, much like Hamilton was, and Gunn.

We have no choice do we really. The choice has been made and the tone set. Nothing other than delivering on what is promised will save them ( board and Adams). If after 5 games we are bottom half the natives will be restless as the tone has been set. People are angry, confused, puzzled...etc with what has happened and those pent up emotions will not show a lot if patience if things go pear shaped.

It will all come out in the wash but again it's put onto the fans to pull together ( I will as I always do) yet we will be blamed for not getting behind the team. The thing is 25000 of us do every game. It's not us that are the issue with the situation we find ourselves in, but those charged with the best interests of the club, who's recent track record is not covered in glory by their own admission.

So in answer to the O/P yes I will get behind the team as I am a Norwich a City fan, but let's hope things do not go Gunn shaped as it will get ugly quickly.

Fortunately for me I have gradually lost more and more interest in football as a sport the last few years and whilst our relegation and now managerial appointment have left a lot to be desired I'm not at all interested to the extent I would of been had this all been 3 years sooner (I'm aware we couldn't be relegated from the PL 3 years ago in reality before smart comment).

Hope it works out for us but really it won't affect me either way.

- Armchair fan (at best).

It goes without saying I will give Neil my full support, just my expectation is lowered a bit now for next season.

You'll not hear me say a bad word after all I was calling for him to replace Hughton long before it happend and I do believe was getting slaughtered for it from several on here?
I hope he goes on to do the sort of job Moyes did for Everton.
At least come the Derby games we know his teams will be right up for it !

I think we'll all give him a chance. I haven't seen one post on here or any other site which directs any anger at all towards Adams. It's all aimed at the board, and in my opinion quite rightly. Not only have they cocked up the whole recruitment process but they then treat us like idiots in their public pronouncements.

Once this all dies down, I think Adams will start with the best wishes from almost 100% of the fans.

Having just watched the DM interview on Dave's thread - I'm definitely feeling a lot LESS 'underwhelmed' and looking forward to seeing which players have the desire to stay and fight for our cause. DM reiterated that no players have to be sold and players who want to leave will only be allowed to do so when a reasonable offer is received for them.

Whilst I'm keen to see some of our academy players coming through, I sincerely hope that they won't be rushed into the fray when they're not ready. I would love us to emulate Southampton's success with their string of successes coming through and being sold for millions.

Maybe just maybe Adams did play a blinder at the interview

Good luck to the team and Adams, now the farce is over let's crack on with recruitment...

My number one concern about Adam's is he'll replace the squad with youth team players, I've not been impressed with Josh Murphy when his played his looked lightweight and can barely cross a ball the lad needs a season on loan, Morris will become Elmander etc. I've got a real horrible feeling the way Smith wailed on about 'The Norwich way' 'Youth' I can see us selling off most of our assets and replacing them with Adam's Youth Team experiment. I don't mean to disrespect the youngsters but I'd rather see them slowly introduced into the team and have solid loan periods.

I think people are looking too much into the Youth side. Yes, Adams will have the connection but I can see him just supplementing the first teams squad with those at the top of our Youth Team. No more than 3 or 4 will be making that transition is my guess but there will be more put into the youth development so we do have the quality to bring through a few years down the line.

Nothing better than when one of your own makes the first team and becomes a star.

Forbes
Sutton
Goss
Eadie
Akinbiyi <yikes>

Was at fulham and united, gives the fans more to cheer about, more of an atmosphere with him in charge than hughton, proved himself through the ranks here why not give him a go. Works for barcelona.....
