Was chatting to someone earlier today about players and Snodgrass came up.

I was genuinely surprised to hear this guy saying we should get shot as he hogs the ball, can't pass, falls over too easily and various other things.

I was surprised to here this opinion as IMHO he's a good player, has passion for the club, works hard etc and he'd be a keeper for me. What do you guys think?
 
I do think Snodgrass is a very good player - you only have to look at his stats to see how many chances he creates. His work ethic is fantastic and he plays with his heart on his sleeve.


However, I also think he can imbalance a team. If you are going to play him, you almost have to create your whole team round him, especially in the prem.


It's a tricky one and I think entirely depends on what the manager has in mind for the team. I do love his attitude (apart from the diving).

I said pretty much the same on another thread. He often tries to almost 'walk' the ball into goal, rather than cross/pass it!!!! He certainly does 'win' a lot of free kicks and not always fairly IMO.

I agree Rich that he does work hard and has passion for the club, but feel he does imbalance the team.
 
Imbalance the team? Rubbish! It is simply that he was the only player for much of the season capable of creating anything. He is our best player and I would love it if we kept him!
 
He's a lightweight. I am equally frustrated and enthralled by him - more often the former as he falls to ground far too easily. The occasional blinding free kick lifts me, but then he returns to form. Should have scored against Chelsea, but on his wrong peg. How many times is it on his wrong peg and he needs to turn (again) on to the right one? Does my head in. SELL. (lol)

And what about at least 1 if not 2 golden chances away to Wet Sham!!!! He often seems to think he is a 'one man team'. It's not enough that he has scored some incredible free kicks IMO.
 
Comfortably our best player over the past two seasons. Capable of scoring and creating, works incredibly hard and seems to have genuine feeling for the club. He would destroy championship defences so why on earth would we get rid? If he had all his skills with the ball, his work ethic AND was consistent he would not be playing for us.

Out of our current squad he is one of the first ones I'd try to keep. I think he wil only get better and a side containing him and pilks on the wings and Redmond playing off hooper will get the excitement back to carrow road next season.
 
of course he unbalances the team, he could be a very good player, but he generally uses the ball poorly, he wastes so many opportunities. I find him immensely frustrating, he is too slow,. holds on to the ball too long, generally doesn't bring other players into play quickly enough, despite finding and creating space, falls over too easily, bitches unnecessarily, couldn't care less if he goes

DM - seems that you and I are destined to disagree on everything.

As well as the issues of lack of speed, one-footedness (if Susan B will allow that expression), and inability to work well with other forwards on the pitch, I don't like his egomania. Egomania can be forgiven if you are Ronaldo or Ibra, but not if you are a lower Prem player with a lot of serious deficiencies. I am speculating now - as I love to do - but I think Snodgrass now believes that he is the de facto leader of NCFC and he has become part of a clique of players who effectively froze out the new boys, especially the forwards. (Did he ever pass to RvW?) As a team we were much less than the sum of our parts for the whole of last season and we hardly ever seemed united on the pitch. That's the main reason I'm against the appointment of Adams - IMO we needed someone completely fresh from outside who would start from ground zero and build up a squad.

I know I've jumped around a lot in this post, and I've made a lot of claims which cannot be substantiated and can therefore be easily attacked, but I personally will be delighted if Snodgrass goes.
