First of all, I certainly don't think you are a WUM (or WUT as I call them), and for me your comments are welcome on here. Regarding Barton, didn't he stub a cigarette out in a fellow players face? And there has also been loads of incidents of violence throughout his short career. I just think he should have been booted out the game for that, but that is just my opinion.

Aye the cigar incident is a famous one, but quite often a lot the facts of it are missed out...The lad was a youth player at the time and is usually referred to as a child, but Barton was only a year and a half older. The lad set fire to the back of Barton's shirt, Barton turned round, saw red and reacted...That youth player has since gone on to Prison himself for stabbing his pregnant girlfriend with a fork and beating her in front of their daughter (who was a toddler at the time)

Not justifying it, but its far more understandable when there's facts attached.

The fight with Diabe seemed to me like something that blew up from a nothing incident into a serious enough fight, although I'm sure things like that happen (to a less serious degree) quite often in football.

The fight that put him in prison is nothing short of mindless thuggery. He was an idiot, and has admitted as much himself, but he's done his time and is now eligible for work, as would any other 'criminal' be once they're released...The only issue is he's a footballer who makes millions.

I can understand why you'd say it, and honestly, there have been times (when he went to prison) when I really didn't want him in our team, but he does seem to have turned a leaf and after following him on twitter for a while, he seems to be an intelligent, decent enough lad!

That's the bit that boils my blood...That a convicted thug can come out of prison and earn a bloody fortune...Mind you, I admit to having a chuckle when I saw him at Royal Ascot in his top hat and tails: he somehow still managed to look like a thug...<laugh>

Nah I'd be inclined to agree to be honest.

I think he could definitely do a job in a top team, but not for you with your current style. He's brilliant at well-drilled set pieces and can pick out a killer pass, but I'm not sure how well he'd do in a team that plays patient flowing football...

I'd be devestated if he went, but I think Tiote would be ideal for you! His pass completion % is awesome (in the 80's) he breaks up so much in front of our back 4 and keeps possession better than anyone in our squad!

Yeah, 3.5m seems an absolute steal, had he not picked up so many yellow cards I think he'd have been away already this summer!

I've not been to The Emirates yet but gone past it on the train a fair few times, looks top notch!

Anyway, I'm off to bed ndall!

A strange thread, in the fact that it started off as a slagging match and finished with some decent banter. It's usually the other way round isn't it?

    That says it all.
Just because you live in Seaham doesn't mean you're not a mag. There are a few mag supporters in Seaham.
