He didn't dive so much as collapse !! However I also can't remember one time he dropped to win a penalty.
So your using, as a piece of evidence to show RVNs supposed superiority, an award that Drogba wasnt even eligible to win? Drogba isnt going to win the Sir Matt f**king Busby award no more than RVN is going to become the Ivory Coasts all time leading scorer
They are only better if they have picked up a Pichichi trophy!! The elusive Pichichi trophy, its the missing award in Drogba's medal display that he pines for!
I didn't say there where 25 better, I said he wasn't one of the best of the last 25 years. All these strikers where better than Drogba from 1989 Maradonna Stoichkov Papin Lineker Van Basten Romario Weah Klinsman Shearer Ronaldo (the Brazilian one) Suker Batistuta Raul Shevchenko Van Nistlerooy Henry Ibrahimovich Eto'o Villa Messi I could probably think of more if I had more time on my hands. Even Torres in his Liverpool days was a much better striker than Drogba, though he has tarnished that reputation since
You really are an absolute idiot. Papin, Weah, Baitistuta, Eto'o, Villa, Torres, Shevchenko, Suker - HA HA HA I can't even begin to get over your stupidity, it's actually mind blowing how much of a ****ing clown you are.
pfft. But none of these guys ever won BBC African Footballer of the Year! That proves Drogba owns them all!
You guys signed 2 of those players when you had Drogba, as Drogba clearly wasn't delivering the goods. As for a few of the others George Weah is the best African to ever play football, everyone knows this. Eto'o aswell is another African who was superior to Drogba. The Eto'o of a few years ago was world class
Weah also played for Chelsea. We had him on loan for a season. Eto'o is a gimp. He may have been World class but did he ever win an Onze D'or?
Davor Suker was a premiership flop and has no right on that list or to be mentioned in the same paragraph as Drogba. Papin, another decent player in ****ty French league and unworthy of note. you truly are a **** of epic proportions.
Suker was over the hill by the time he came to the PL, he had a great record in Spain though, and had an outstanding record for Croatia 45 goals in 69 games, including the 98 World Cup golden boot. Papin was a quality striker, he won the Ballon Do'r, and averaged a goal every 2 games throughout his career
Stastics are always only a part of the story. By far the most important factor is which team the striker played for, and what sort of service they got. You're wasting your time if you think any argument you put on here will change people to your way of thinking. You might as well just say " my dads better than your dad". This isn't about how good strikers are, but how generous a person Drogba is. How much has Van Nistelroy give by the way?? Ever ??
The point you miss about Drogba, KS, is that he was the best big game player. He scored winning goals V Barca, Bayern, United, etc regularly. His goal-scoring rate was not as good as Suarez or RVN because he did not bag four against Norwich. Drogba: big game player. RVN, Suarez: flat-track bullies
Suker, Batistuta and Papin made me laugh the most. Shergar dislikes Drogba and is letting that get in the way of his judgement, that's the only explination I have for not rating Drogba as one of the best strikers over the past 25 years. It's not even that he's saying some of these players are 'better', it's how much he's dismissing Drogba's ability and basically calling him average. Basically, if you average a goal every 2 games or more then you are good.
This sums it up. Drogba pretty much stands alone as the man up top on his own type striker. He scored all sorts of goals, brilliant in the air, held the ball up brilliantly, scored against all types of teams, bullied defences. He's pretty much won more major trophies than most of those players KS listed, some of which were laughable comparisons. Drogba also never took penalties for us and was behind Frank in the free kick standings. Therefore almost all his goals game from open play and he still won 2 golden boots in the premier league. Scored tap ins, worldies from outside the box, headers. What more do you want. The guy is arguably the best striker in the P.L era because of his fantastic record in cup finals and against the best at home and abroad. No one really gives a **** about banging 4 in against the Norwich City's of this world. It's scoring in the semi final v barba and final v Bayern on the way to winning the champions league that really matters. Or all those FA cup final goals including 3 winners. KS you are embarrassing yourself more than usual with this one.
Drogba scored 2 goals against Man Utd in 8 years, and one of those was miles offside. I'd hardly call that scoring against us regularly. Suarez I wouldn't disagree with you, about being a flat track bully, but Van Nistlerooy certainly wasn't, this is a player who bagged himself 3 Champions League golden boots in only 5 seasons with us. Flat track bully's don't consistently score against the best sides across Europe. Drogba was never good enough to win even one of those awards. Drogba was without a doubt on a level below the likes of Van Nistlerooy, and all the facts prove he was. Strikers are in the team to score goals, and Van Nistlerooy was better at it, simple as that
Give me Drogba's performance against Bayern any day over a few Golden ****ing boots . I also like my strikers to score goals, but there was much more to Drogba's style of play than just scoring.
