..........seem to be determined to go straight back up. They are being linked with just about anyone and everyone. Recently I have heard Yakubu, Mickail-Smith, Bothroyd, Chopra, Gardner, Nolan (signed), Faye (signed) and NOW friggin Maxi Gradel! I'm pretty worried that they will be run away leaders. I'll be honest is saying that getting rid of Gradel was the worst thing that Pearson ever did and I can see him fitting in perfectly with West Ham's reputed style of football.
As are we. Who have they actually signed? Nolan fair enough, great signing. And Faye, good signing. They can be linked with everyone in the world but they've only signed 2 players as far as I know. There's no doubt they'll be a force next season but it doesn't always work out how everyone thinks it will. In the last 2 World Cups pretty much everyone to a man was saying Brazil will walk it, no one else has got a chance. But both times they flopped by their standards. Anyway, I don't want to keep saying it but we are still only in June, there's much transfer activity to come yet and the worst thing we can do is go into the new season with a negative attitude as if we've lost before we've started. We need to believe in the manager and the team he puts out and I'm certainly not going to write us off of finishing in the top 2.
Chopras gone to Ipswich hasnt he? Mickail-Smith seems to be waiting on a lower prem league call up. Bothroyd hasn't been snapped up by anyone, cause hes not all that good, maybe as a target man, but nothing else. Gardner has said hes stayin at Bolton. Cant see Gradel signing for another Championship club, Leeds fans would be livid i recon. Nolan and Faye admittedly are good signings. Yakubu ... who the f**k knows what hes upto! With Big Sam, i can't see them not getting promoted, no matter what players they have. If they had kept Avram, i would not have said that.
I'm not writing us off at all but just cant help feeling that West Ham will have 50% of the automatic promotion places - it's looking pretty impressive how they are setting their stall out. Having said that I do believe in Sven but just hope he keeps a good balance of Brits and foreigners as I truly believe that you need that to keep the harmony in the dressing room and the team spirit and loyalty. Whatever happens, come 3pm on Sat 06 August - I will sing my heart out and bleed blue blood.
Have to disagree there, Bothroyd's one of the best strikers in the division - quick, strong, scores goals and scores good goals. If he's not going to a Prem Club and we don't get Maynard, and we don't consider him I'd have to ask why.
fair enough, although im betting his 1 England cap will put his wages through the roof. maybe this is why Cardiff didnt hold onto him
Yeh I know what you're saying, I just think focusing on these things will only make the rest of the summer break all the more agonising. I agree West Ham will be a force but it's quite possible they could still be reeling from relegation and may start very poorly. They will have even higher expectatins than us and if they do start badly their fans might get impatient and the pressure they are under will only make it harder. Even if West Ham do run away with the League, all the other Clubs will be wary of our potential and that 2nd spot will be very much up for grabs. And if we finished runners-up we'd all be very happy You're certainly not the only one with concerns and you're not the only one expressing it either. I remember there semmed to be an air of negativity throughout the majority of last season (apart from the spell from January-end of February) and it negatively effected the team, sometimes leading to booing and things like that. I'm not saying that's what you were doing or what you will do, just that a lot of people seem to be less positive than they were on the final day of last season and it's important that the Club as a whole is positive. Basically, don't start worrying yet
As a foxes fan exiled in Cardiff (lived with a hell of a lot of sh*te since the Kermo penalty), you may be surprised to hear that a lot of the Cardiff fans are not that bothered with Bothroyd going. He spent a lot of time on the ground after trying to con the ref into awarding fee kicks, generally lacked a work ethic and his goal scoring ratio was not the best - he is very wasteful apparently. They were more upset at losing Chopra who is a complete tw*t by the way.....
This season is starting to remind me of the League One season. If you remember, Leeds were going to win the title, we were going to get second, and Huddersfield were going to win the playoffs. And that's what happen innit?
With all that money you are bound to be linked to all those players, look at the list Proud has put together for us! There will be other middle of the road teams(Forest/Derby/Cov!) saying the same about us. Ha Ha
