Just a word if I may. I am a non-attending Hull City supporter, my attendance at matches finished after a dozen games at the KC Stadium after the switch from Boothferry Park, my first game at BP was in the 1958/59 season. But I would just like to say that I congratulate all those City supporters of today who have had some fantastic times under Phil Brown and now Steve Bruce. I still follow the team through tv, online and of course Not 606 but I cannot claim any of the glory as I donât pay my money at the turnstile any more.
As for the Arsenal game, the mere fact that Hull City AFC were in an FA Cup final, and will now play in Europe whilst still being a member of that elite league, formerly known as Division 1, is just truly amazing and I am glad I have lived long enough to witness the fact. The result whilst disappointing didnât detract from the clubs achievements over the last few years from being overshadowed by other big time Yorkshire clubs and back in the Boothferry Park days Leeds, Sheffield Utd, and Sheffield Wednesday were big time clubs, to being THE top club in the county.
What sticks in my throat though, and truth be told it has always been the same, is the overall media reaction of our games against those teams that think they have a god given right to be at the top table year after year. If I remember right it was the same for another team from the East Coast who had a fantastic time many years ago, one Ipswich Town managed by none other than Alf Ramsey. And if Hull City can emulate their success from that time of Alf Ramsey and Bobby Robson then I will be truly delighted yet again. Well done the team and the diehard supporters of the KC Stadium.
