Just a word if I may. I am a non-attending Hull City supporter, my attendance at matches finished after a dozen games at the KC Stadium after the switch from Boothferry Park, my first game at BP was in the 1958/59 season. But I would just like to say that I congratulate all those City supporters of today who have had some fantastic times under Phil Brown and now Steve Bruce. I still follow the team through tv, online and of course Not 606 but I cannot claim any of the glory as I don’t pay my money at the turnstile any more.

As for the Arsenal game, the mere fact that Hull City AFC were in an FA Cup final, and will now play in Europe whilst still being a member of that elite league, formerly known as Division 1, is just truly amazing and I am glad I have lived long enough to witness the fact. The result whilst disappointing didn’t detract from the clubs achievements over the last few years from being overshadowed by other big time Yorkshire clubs and back in the Boothferry Park days Leeds, Sheffield Utd, and Sheffield Wednesday were big time clubs, to being THE top club in the county.

What sticks in my throat though, and truth be told it has always been the same, is the overall media reaction of our games against those teams that think they have a god given right to be at the top table year after year. If I remember right it was the same for another team from the East Coast who had a fantastic time many years ago, one Ipswich Town managed by none other than Alf Ramsey. And if Hull City can emulate their success from that time of Alf Ramsey and Bobby Robson then I will be truly delighted yet again. Well done the team and the diehard supporters of the KC Stadium.

    Top post.

Coming away from Wembley we had Stan 'womanbeater' Collymore on and some HCFC caller rung in and skewered the media for their 'Arsenal v somone else' approach to the Final.

It's not just cos it was HCFC. It would have been the same for anyone out the Top 6 if they'd been playing.

Just why is Arsenal's 9 year trophy drought so important to the nation at large????

That would be nice, but times have changed as I'm sure those who have drifted from the game know. You need a ridiculously rich owner to keep up with those at the top now. And a bigger squad is simply essential, not just for cup competitions but for competition to make sure players don't slack.

If we had won the cup, you just knew all the media would have cared more about Arsenal losing than us winning.

Money has ruined the game, however, I still enjoy it and supporting our great club. We along with all other clubs have no choice but to spend on transfer fees and high wages otherwise we would be back in those dark days again very quickly.

That said the one thing we have got more than most clubs is that team spirt. Now I would never like them to compromise that for individual egotists no matter how talented they are.

I know you know, hence my sarcastic post. I did write /sarcasm on the end but I didn't think it was needed.

Totally agree Ref., except for one thing. You are a supporter...you can claim a share in the teams glory just by being that, a supporter (almost as long as me by the sounds of it).
All this talk about "plastic" supporters irks me...everyone starts somewhere in their support & love of a team. Many will find it difficult to attend live games. Doesn't diminish that love or support of a chosen team ( be it an introduction by grandparents, parents, mates or even exposure via TV.) Bet we got many new supporters based on this weekend's City performance. Many may never get to see them live...but will watch them on TV or look for their results in the press. The "plastic" press follow the money in the main, but there are many "genuine" football appreciating reporters who may well give more credence to City's performance this last weekend. More supporters no doubt will get on board.
Brilliant weekend, fantastic season and much more to look forward to in the future. Let's hope you can share in more glory.

Blame modern day football. But if we had won then at least all the anti-Arsenal fans would have had much fun.

Away from the top 7 clubs, Steve Bruce can now make us a PL top 10 club. Now that would do for me for starters. We have to use this season as a start of a great new future not the end of the ride.
It could well be another 9 years befiore they win another one.
