To my mind the WC is a mere appetiser to the main meal - the Olympics there in 2016!!! Let's hope it is a good one, though!!!
Why not? Now that summer is here we can have lots of topics to talk about!! Liverpool's board have lots of topical debate that are not hidden in one area. So if people want to debate the Euro elections, let's do it!! Maybe our board should allow OT debates during the summer months!!
I'm going to make a thread purely for the purpose of liveblogging my reactions as I watch through every episode of Gilmore Girls.
Must admit, that prior to the London Olympics, my thoughts were, oh dear, we are going to screw this up so badly. Let's face it, our trailer at the end of the Chinese games was a double-decker bus which involved a climax of David Beckham mis-kicking a ball to nowhere in particular. So the expectation levels weren't high. And then London went and produced one of the greatest Olympic games of all time, possibly THE greatest. So when the Olympic Games are that good, the World Cup becomes a pissy little sideshow event held in the years between. And I say that as a lover of the beautiful game who, on the whole, isn't too interested in watching other sports. Nevertheless, I'm sure the organisers and pundits will say that this World Cup will be the greatest sporting event so far, and they will be lying through their teeth. If it manages to get to be the 2nd best then the organisers will have done very well indeed.
If you like watching ugly women with no body fat & hips like men. Seriously, the pics of the old brazil & australian bouncy girls playing beach volleyball are long gone. The London olympics they were all rough as ****, with no arse & no tits. The men looked far better in most cases.
I think they will have done well to get all the games played in safe and finished stadia. P.s. Loved the 2012 Olympics...a huge highlight in my sporting memories. I too was scared that everything would go wrong...after all, Americans are supposed to be good at this stuff and completely mucked it up...being unable to even get the competitors to events.
Beauty is in the the eye of the beholder, hope you aren't on the turn! Second thoughts, disregard the cheap homophobic jokes, I am neither sexist nor do I particularly care what other peoples preferences are, just posting for posting sake, as I am getting bored with the lack of action.
Getting them finished is one thing, but getting safety certificates for them is another. I honestly don't see it happening, and I'm not sure I'd trust the sign off's if they did apparently manage to finish them safely.
I love the Olympics for getting me interested in sports I wouldn't otherwise give a second glance. And we do better in the Olympics. If we win. the WC it is the best, but I get more pleasure (i.e. less anguish) from the Olympics.
Well you have your opinion and I have mine. The World Cup shows me my sport but occasionally there are games where I'd rather watch paint dry. OK, there is no horse dancing event [dressage maybe the word you're after..? ], but there is... wait for it... football, athletics, cycling... hang on, I'm not going to list them all: Olympic Sports.
