I don't think it was that bad. I the the commentator summed it up, it was a good free kick and would have required a good save. It wasn't a routine save.

For all we know, Harper might have made a howler and people would have said that Bruce should have done more to get MacG back, etc. We have had injuries to MacG, McShane, Brady and Chester at the back. Fig has also lost the plot. Things were patched up as best as possible for the final. It wasn't quite enough.

Mac is a quality keeper. Needs to work on free kicks though as we've conceded a fair few.

We didn't lose because of macgregor, we lost because the referee was weak, and the team ran out of steam at the end.
I don't think we can blame the ref, he could have easily given more to Arsenal than he did?

We lost because we took a 2 - 0 lead against a good side who were playing ****e, then we lost it.The goal from the free-kick was weak, but it was well taken. We stretched them, be happy with that. :emoticon-0148-yes:

He shifted his weight to the right as that is the natural place for a free kick from there to go. He saw what was happening late and had to readjust, trying to switch his weight across to the other foot which is very difficult. The quality of the free kick made it a very difficult one to save and I don't blame him for not stopping it, I blame the ref for giving that free kick and ones like it when they were ridiculously soft

10 out of 10 the team
10 out of 10 Steve Bruce
10 out of 10 the Tiger Nation

Fantastic day

And we WILL be back again in the next few years
In another final .

I thought McGregor was outstanding. Got a hand on a brilliant free kick and saved several other goal attempts which Harper wouldn't have got near. Also considering he was coming back from a major injury he was excellent.

Exactly, after watching the highlights last night, he could easily have given 3 penalties, yes they would have been soft, but if it was us, we would have been screaming about it.
As for the OP, McG was class, saved far more than he didn't so there's no blame on him as far as I'm concerned. Nor any blame for any other player, we just lost to a good side who were taken all the way & got the bounce of the ball in the end, but so did we at the start, had Bruce's header gone in, we would have won it, but scoring 2 at Wembley & saying about ifs & buts is pointless to say anything other than well done.

Just watching the game now. Ye it was a poorly constructed wall. Looked way too far past the left post and he shoulda got it.

He did give them more. He gave them a corner, (which they scored from ) instead of a goal kick

You sound like Bruce! Only see things which went against you! Three penalty shouts. 2 we're definite and the other probable. Game should've been over long before full time with or without the corner
