Is anyone else worried about next season? Were no longer the big boys of the league and it doesn't look like we are bringing any new players any time soon. Have we really got a big transfer kitty?
Not worried at all reggie, i think we already have a good enough squad to compete and sure we will bring in a couple of additions. more importantly we have also not had to sell our best assets
There are no big boys in this league except maybe West Ham. Last seasons promoted teams, none of them had parachute payments, 2 of them didn't spend excessively and all 3 haven't been in the PL for a long time. The Championship prides itself on being competitive and unpredictable. It's often the teams with stability and long-term visions that win out rather than the ones that splash the cash.
1) No, why would I be? 2) We've only just got promoted to this league, what do you expect? 3) Who says we won't sign a player tomorrow? Nobody knows when new signings will arrive, Adkins & Co will be working hard to bring the best players we can in e.g We approached Reo-Coker a few weeks back but he was out of our league wage-wise. 4) Yes, we have resources available to buy players. If I see one more of these 'Is anyone worried' threads again I will seriously not bother coming on this site.
I'm not saying we buy everyone in sight just maybe one marquee signing and then 1 or 2 freebies. The marquee signing could be cork. Hope we get him.
We have to just get used to the fact that what ever is going on, if anything, is being conducted on a need to know basis. Which unfortunately means that we the fans will be the last to know. We are told by the chairman that funds are available. It would be unwise of him to let all and sundry know what that kitty is for obvious reasons. So in truth all you can do is trust in NC and NA. Now if they do not produce they will lose that trust, then it will be another sad time for the Saints. So you either trust them to get on with things or you don't! Simples
I'm not particularly worried atm. I still think we have a better squad now than the one which got relegated, and think we can stay up without any further investment.
Dont worry about it enjoy it.Being on on a more even playing field wil be better for us than being the bigger boys that every one is keen to slap down.We will be looking more towards a play off spot than looking down at the basement. And you can be sure we will add to our sqaud as will others but i do feel people who control our club have ambition rather than consolidation in mind.
I'm not worried in the sense that I think we'll be relegated, but it is a strong league and we'll have to get used to not being top dogs (at least initially). I came back here from the Echo site because someone's spreading rumours about how hard up we are and I don't need that. I would guess that we have money to spend but we are not able (or willing) to compete with teams who either have the money or are willing to take risks. These teams will not buy everyone, so I'm sure we will sign 1-3 good players. The advantage we have is that we have a decent team to start with.
Some Saints fans really need to get a grip, I swear we have the most panicky, knee-jerk supporters in the country. The facts are we have just been promoted and we have a very capable squad that easily beat Blackpool and gave Manure and Bolton a fright. Most sensible people will know that the squad is well equipped to survive in the Championship comfortably and quite possibly do as well as the three promoted teams from last season. It is very early days to worry about the lack of transfer activity, but I suspect that there are several targets being tracked at this moment that the media haven't got wind of due to NC liking to play his cards close to his chest. Like others have said, all will become clear before the season starts, but even if we don't sign anyone, we are still in a very good position and the academy lads are getting better all the time.
I think my thumbs would do an adequate job. The pain of reading another one of these threads in the space of a few days.
The trouble is that it is hard to think of original threads. We're all stuck in the doldrums waiting for next season.
No doubt I will be worrying when the season begins as ever with Saints but for now just I'm just enjoying the speculation - well I wouldn't say enjoying.........Thats the thing with pre season every team feel they have a chance of success in the forecoming season but reality will hit home a few months in......
