Washington DC. The whole place was burnt down so the building you are thinking of will either be the predecessor of the White House or the Capital. Thats what you get for siding with the French.

    Correct, over to you:-

The Burning of Washington in 1814 was an attack during the War of 1812 between British forces and those of the United States of America. On August 24, 1814, after defeating the Americans at the Battle of Bladensburg, a British force led by Major General Robert Ross occupied Washington City and set fire to many public buildings, including the White House and the Capitol, as well as other facilities of the U.S. government. The British commander's orders to burn only public buildings and strict discipline among the British troops are credited with preserving the city's private buildings. The attack was in part a retaliation to American actions in the Raid on Port Dover.

Throughout the history of the United States, the U.K. is the only country to have ever burned the White House or Washington, D.C., and this was the only time since the American Revolutionary War that a foreign power captured and occupied the United States capital.

Time to bump this back up for the long summer.

If Stan will forgive me taking his turn, who is the only current US golfer to have won two majors but never represented his country in the Ryder Cup?

Which group's nationalist flag is very similar to the French flag?

If anyone is bored waiting for the World Cup to begin, this game is a fun - my geography was certainly quite a bit off target.

How well do you know the world? Play Geoguessr to find out!

Think you’re a geography expert? Test your knowledge with BBC Travel’s Geoguessr – the game that proves how well you know the world! First, move around using your mouse and figure out where you are. Then click on the map in the lower right hand corner to place your marker (zoom in to increase your accuracy). When you’re sure, click the “make a guess” button, and find out how close you were! Once you’ve mastered the basics, set a time limit or challenge a friend. The world’s a huge place – get exploring!

Odd, sometimes this happens with video content here - detects I am not in UK, so I cannot stream it.

Perhaps try this link and scroll down the page to find the Geoguessr link off that page.

My question still stands though - this was just a bonus.

Still not accessible and I don't understand the question. What do you mean by 'group'? Terrorist group, separatist group?

Given where you are I'll go for the Prince Edward Island People's Liberation Front (Popular).

You are quite close, this is the flag of a strongly nationalistic, more cultural group of residents that inhabit part of a region of Atlantic Canada, within the provinces of NB, NS & PEI.

Definitely not - my original question seems to have gone down a bit of a blind alley here, so I'm going to put it out of it's misery and let someone else step in with a new question.

Which group's nationalist flag is very similar to the French flag?

    Correct answer is:-

    Flag of Acadia
