Hi guys, first post so be kind (former 606 member)

interesting quotes from someone on twitter that Dan Kerins follows called FootballAgent46 - basically this guy is a football agent who posts on twitter anonymously to give people insight into the business amongst other things.

i was interested to see the post where he said along the lines of this: "most agents are staying clear from negotiating with saints these days" and also something about "due to the way they negotiate" - this isnt a direct quote but its the gist.

was annoyed to see this and he later stressed this was just "word from around the campfire" - that is a direct quote - this concerns me as i think that either:
A - we are playing too much hard ball and may miss out on some really good signings
    or
B - we are being seen as 'man city' of the NPC and people want to bleed us dry, something NC wont allow therefore people turn their noses up at us.

have a look for his twitter for yourself and feel free to discuss!

LMAO! A football agent who doesnt like the way we negotiate, oh the Irony!!

    - We negotiate in confidence
    - We honour our commitments
    - We strive to acheive value

Well perhaps I can see why he doesnt like it.

no trust lol! just interesting that perhaps this is at least alot of agents perception of us?

certainly agree with others that we are doing things the right way by us - only concern is the potential players we may miss out on.

regardsless in NC and NA i trust and only those going to the same destination will be allowed on board the bus!

If we miss out on them then so what? We'll just find others who are willing to do business with us.

We could sign 1 player only and I wouldn't be at all bothered.

We have a strong enough squad with an excellent team spirit and as long as you have team spirit then that's all you need to become better players <ok>

Or maybe we're just not willing to pay pathetic wages for some players and have realised that the new rules come in the season after next and we want to be sustainable, as Cortese has stressed over and over again.

I agree its probably because an agent has come in and asked for 30 grand a week for some average player (and a big wodge for himself in to the bargain) and was told where he could go.

agents are all about money. they try to get as much from transfers and cortese is probably putting his foot down and saying no. he's just throwing his toys out of his pram.

Yes I have heard these rumours. It may well be true if they come up against a tough negotiator they are bound to be a bit sore. There is fores and against that type of negotiator. Any agent would be silly to not negotiate with Saints though based on some of those rumours. Simply because on the other side of the coin we may not be the biggest payers but we are far from being the poor man of the championship as far as wages are concerned. The difference is each and every one will understand that what ever they get they will have to earn. That goes for the agents as well!!!!

This sounds just like the way the press reacted to us last season over the fact that we wanted them to buy photos from us rather than take their own. We sorted that one out and the press don't seem to be giving NC such a bad time nowadays for being such an astute business man.

If football agents don't like the way NC does business it's because they probably can't con him the way they can con most people in football. Personally I think NC is ahead of his time and the rest of football will eventually catch up to his and Southampton F.C.'s business style.

Or C) There is no point tauting players to Saints as they only go after targets of interest and even then will negotiate hard and make the agents work for their money.

Besides it's only a one line tweeter feed. It hasn't been reported elsewhere.

Under our new regime I am quite pleased that we are difficult to negotiate with.

Remember the same rules go for the selling and buying of players. We have a price and will not go above that which is good business sense in my book.

This is probably from an agent who is trying to offload a few Ali Dia type players on unsuspecting clubs.

Generally speaking, "career based" Tweeters don't tend to pass comment on the movies they've been watching or the junk food they've been eating!

I was lucky enough to have the agent that represented SFC as a non-executive Director at my last business. He always cited Saints as a model example of how clubs should do business and categorically stated that this was ingrained in the club. New owners, same approach if you ask me.
