It has to be Liverpool when you consider how far away they were from the title. Yet this season they have blown everyone away, and almost scored 100 league goals.
Yes, the players are good, but they have moved up another level this season. Rodgers made some big calls with players coming in, going out, not moving for big money etc...Got them playing so well, and aggresively.


I always thought he lived off the success of our system at Swansea. We all ready played good football, and Rodgers learnt from it, and claimed it as his own. (To be fair, did a good job handling it!) But at Liverpool, he has really changed things, and implemented the type of football he learnt at Swansea. Credit to him.

Martinez also deserves huge credit...what a class act he has looked this season.

Pulis has done an incredible job saving them like he's done.

Liverpool winning the title (as looks likely now) is an amazing achievement but take Suarez out and they're nowhere. Defensively poor, winning by scoring more goals than conceding.

Pulis on the other hand has worked a miracle with an all round team performance and no "star" players.
 
True. Get the feeling this is Liverpool's only realistic chance of winning the title for many years. They have the most in form player in world football, also have Sturridge as second top scorer in the league. None of the competing teams have been at the top of their game through injuries etc, or just been non-existant in the case of MANU. Liverpool have had no Euorpean football to worry about either (look at Chelsea last night) or any other cup football for that matter. Be very surprised if the league isn't a lot stronger next year.
 
Take out man utd strikers and they would of not won as many titles. so that argument falls flat on its face. Brendan has done something that no other manager has done for liverpool in a decade with suarez or with anyone else, Liverpool will not only win the title they will win the player of the year,the young player of the year,the players player of the year and the manager of the year, They are definitely in line for a clean sweep of awards this season and it beggars belief that some swans fans cant give Brendan any credit not only for what he achieved for us but the outstanding turnaround he has achieved in just two seasons at liverpool that others have tried and failed.

Dai i tend to agree with you. The test will come next year and will show whether Rodgers is as good as we think, when Suarez signs for Real at the end of the season and Liverpool and Brendan are still pushing for the title next year. i think he has worked wonders and never doubted he would up there.
 
credit to Brendan for getting Liverpool where they SHOULD be, but the remarkable work by less fancied managers Bruce, Pulis and to a slightly lesser extent Martinez tip it for me. Much smaller resources and all excelling in their 1st Prem season with their respective clubs.
Nothing against Brendan but he has been helped by the other big clubs not achieving their own minimum requirements and also he benefits from a fresh squad with no cups or Europe to worry about, especially in the final furlong.

This is going to be Brendan's problem next season trunds because of what he has achieved in a very short time then the liverpool fans will expect him to not only maintain the standard but will want him to achieve more by doing well in the champions league. Any dip now and he will find that the fans will turn on him and unfortunately that is now the pressure he will have on his head that he has not had since he took over. I think he is a good enough manager to do well next season but its going to be very tough.
 
Im not saying Monk wont be manager next season dai, just that your foolish for putting him into the best manager race lol .... I put Laudrup in my list as a tongue in cheek comment , you put Monk name in as a head up your arse comment

No Swans fan is going to deny what Martinez, Rodgers and Laudrup have done for us.

Rodgers has done extremely well so far. The combination of Liverpool over-performing whilst all their competitors under-perform is unlikely to happen again though.

Well there have been plenty on here slagging off previous successful managers in the past and some still do today, you are underestimating monty how good Brendan has been and how good his team have been this season. There has not been many teams that could keep up with them and it puts monks effort when we played them into perspective. We were one of the very few teams who not only matched them but could have beaten them if we had that little bit of luck. Liverpool have been awesome this season and that has nothing whatsoever to do and play the excuse card that everyone else have underplayed and that's how they are good.

Would just interject that the 'Liverpool had no European football' argument is balanced by the fact that our rivals this season (Chelsea, City, United etc) have European competition sized squads to deal with it. We don't.

If you'd kept Laudrup what would've happened in your opinions?
 
For me Master if you win the league Rogers deserves it given the amounts spent by your rivals - (can consider the money Utd and Spurs have spent this season too) it makes you wonder where Liverpool would be if they spent 60-100 million this season.

Otherwise I'd plump for Pulis given the miracle he's performed.

Special mentions must also go to Poyet who has equally performed a miracle at Sunderland and Mark Hughes for transforming Stoke and a possible top 10 finish.

As for Laudrup, I think we would have been in a relegation scrap under him, with it being touch and go whether we stayed up.
 
I now its only towards the end, but what about poyet, wins against Chelsea, Manure, drew with Man city and of course beat the no hopers 4-0
 
It has to be Rodgers for the way he has turned Liverpool around in just two seasons. Pulis for the tremendous way he has turned things around at palace. and the third place is the most difficult as there are many candidates for all sorts of reasons...

Current market value of squad = £197m
and you've always paid similar wages to the other elite teams...not buying this poor Liverpool argument.

Fact is all of your resources were concentrated on putting an XI out once a week.
For a club of your size and budgets that is a huge advantage....but I guess we'll only find out next season.
I'm betting you wont even get top 4 next season.


If we'd kept Laudrup I reckon things would have come to a head this summer and his stance to the board would have been back me or I walk....and the board would have let him walk.
Costing us much less money than sacking him in February. There has been no up turn in results or performances. We might as well have taken £4m (or so) out of the bank and had a bonfire in the Liberty car park.

Expensive but far more serious is what we might have done to the brand in general, how any potential managerial candidates in the future will see us and going into the new season needing a mini rebuild with a complete rookie in charge <doh> .

So coming second = great now does it?
Even Arsene Wenger has won stuff....for that matter, even Roberto Martinez has won a major trophy.
For that matter so did Laudrup.
What about Rodgers?
What about Monk?
You've got to earn the right to be called a "great" comrade Dai.
